The beautiful city of Winchester is a fabulous base for this weekend break, with plenty of history to soak up combined with quirky shops and trendy food and drink spots to explore. The city's major landmark is the striking Winchester Cathedral, one of the largest cathedrals in Europe, with the greatest overall length of any Gothic cathedral. It is well worth a visit and is home to some rare, precious and stunning items. Our centrally located hotel allows you to explore this magnificent city on foot.
We also include a visit to Salibury with free time to explore this medieval city’s historic streets and alleyways, half-timbered buildings and magnificent cathedral, boasting the tallest spire in the UK and an original copy of the Magna Carta.

Itinerary
Day 1
Join your coach at your convenient local pick-up point, and head for the south coast via the stunning cathedral town of Salisbury, known as ‘the city in the countryside’. Here you will have time at leisure to perhaps visit the impressive Cathedral as well as wandering around the heart of this beautiful medieval cathedral city.
Rejoin your coach later in the afternoon to head for Winchester, and our hotel, the 4* Mercure Winchester Wessex, which is ideally located in the centre of the city. The rest of the day is free to enjoy as you wish. Either simply relax at the hotel or your hotel location allows you to stay out as late as you like making the most of all the city has to offer including great food and drink.
Day 2
After a tasty breakfast, you have time to explore the medieval city of Winchester. Located on the edge of the South Downs National Park, Winchester is a city packed with culture and filled with vibrant shops, restaurants and pubs, where you will be charmed by ancient streets and surroundings as you enjoy the best of both worlds; bustling county town meets scenic countryside. Enjoy time at leisure to have a wander and explore until mid-afternoon. Then re-join your coach with time to relax during your journey home.Tour includes
