Excursions

Manchester Ship Canal Cruise

Cruise along the Manchester Ship Canal, one of Britain’s most historic waterways between Liverpool Pier Head and Salford Quays. This fascinating cruise, with a lively commentary along the way, is as awe inspiring as it is relaxing. It is the most tranquil way to travel ever invented. You’ll love this 6–hour cruise through 35 miles of fine Lancashire landscapes, secret woodland, watery glades, and 120 years of history. Hear the story of this magnificent waterway and enjoy wonderfully differing scenery as your cruise takes you through locks and under bridges, which have remained largely unchanged for over 100 years.

Chester plus ‘Hop-on, Hop-off’ Bus Tour

Chester, may be the best-preserved walled city in England, with its galleried streets, Roman Wall, Tudor houses, and unique medieval shopping experience at the famous ‘Rows’, where the shops are quite literally ‘on top of each other’. This is a fascinating city where you can truly combine a love of history with some truly inspiring shopping opportunities!

Port Sunlight & Ness Botanical Gardens

We visit the picturesque and unique village of Port Sunlight on the Wirral which was built by William Hesketh Lever as an idyllic model village for his “Sunlight Soap” workers. This is perhaps the best kept secret in the region and with its distinctive styles created by 26 different architects to design the houses, it is truly a hidden gem! There is even a Beatles link here as it was the very first place that Ringo Star played with the Beatles in 1962. Your fun tour guide will bring the whole village to life and you will have free time to visit the Lady Lever Art Gallery and to buy refreshments. Afterwards we visit the award-winning superb gardens at Ness were founded in 1898 by Arthur Kilpin Bulley, a Liverpool cotton merchant with a passion for gardens and for plant collecting. Ness is open all year round with seasonal flowers, shrubs and trees, in particular Rhododendrons, Azaleas, a beautiful rock garden, enchanting Laburnum arch and spectacular herbaceous border. Don’t miss the Garden Kitchen Cafe for a light bite, meal or sweet treat.
