Itinerary

Day 1

Join your coach this morning and travel to Winchester for free time to enjoy as you wish. The city's major landmark is the striking Winchester Cathedral, one of the largest cathedrals in Europe, with the greatest overall length of any Gothic cathedral. It is well worth a visit and is home to some rare, precious and stunning items. Enjoy time to shop, sightsee and grab something to eat before rejoining your coach later this afternoon. We will then travel for our comfortable overnight stay at the Ibis Reading Centre, which is ideally located in the town centre. Either simply relax at the hotel or your central location allows you to stay out as late as you like making the most of all the town has to offer including great food and drink.

Day 2

After a hearty breakfast, say farewell to your hotel and head for the royal town of Windsor. We include entry to the impressive Windsor Castle. Built in the 11th century by William the Conqueror, it is used for many ceremonial and State occasions. If you wish, you can also enjoy time to shop, sightsee and grab something to eat in the town before rejoining your coach later this afternoon to head homewards with maybe a few souvenirs!

Winchester

INCLUDED Visitor DestinationAn unspoilt cathedral city on the edge of the rolling South Downs, Winchester is England's ancient capital and former seat of King Alfred the Great. Today, Winchester combines the best of city life with the freshness of the surrounding countryside. Home of good food and the country's largest farmers' market, birthplace of the modern game of cricket, resting place of author Jane Austen and inspiration to the many craft-makers and artists who live here, Winchester is truly a destination for all seasons. Popular for its bustling shopping streets, its floral summer season and quirky open air events, it is most well-known for its eleventh century Cathedral and for its Great Hall, which for over 700 years has housed the mysterious King Athur's Round Table. The many bars, traditional pubs and restaurants make eating out a pleasure, and there are pretty riverside walks past tranquil water meadows.

Windsor Castle

The beautiful, ancient royal town of Windsor sits on the River Thames and is home to Windsor Castle, one of the most iconic residences of the British Royal Family. Built by William The Conqueror in the 11th century, the castle was extensively remodelled by subsequent monarchs and remains one of the most impressive historic buildings in the country. The castle itself is surrounded by a warren of small streets offering a wonderful range of boutiques, shops, bars, cafes and restaurants for you to enjoy along with the impressive 5,000 acres of gardens that make up Windsor Great Park.

Your included entry to Windsor Castle gives you an opportunity to discover the largest inhabited castle in the world, and the oldest in continuous occupation. It is one of three official residences, so keep an eye out as glimpses have been known!
