If you're looking for a relaxing great-value break by the sea, then this 5-day midweek trip to Weston-super-Mare could be for you.

The original British seaside resort, Weston-super-Mare, nestled on the Somerset coast and embraced by Weston Bay’s 2 mile long sandy beach has reinvented itself from its beginnings in Victorian history.  Few towns can say that their beachfront is so close to the town centre, is mostly on the level without steep walkways and can offer so much to do, whatever the weather.

You'll stay right in the heart of Weston in the comfortable family-run Royal Grosvenor Hotel, overlooking the sea and the impressive Grand Pier and making it easy for you to explore and enjoy this pretty seaside resort at your leisure. We've included some lovely excursions for you to enjoy along with lots of free time for you to just do your own thing.

During your holiday, we'll take you to the tiny medieval cathedral city of Wells where you'll have time to do a little retail therapy and enjoy a fabulous cream tea. We'll also whisk you away to Wiltshire with time to explore the historic market town of Corsham and Lacock Village,  a beautifully preserved Cotswold village lost in time. If that is not enough, on the way home we'll give you time to wander through Clifton Village. There will also be entertainment at the hotel on some nights plus a £3 bar on selected drinks every evening for you to enjoy.

An ideal choice for:

* Anyone looking for a relaxing midweek break by the sea at a super price
* People who love to have the choice of doing their own thing or joining in with others
* Anyone just looking to switch off and have some fun

Day 1

Join your coach at your convenient pick up point this morning before heading to Somerset's favourite seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare and your fantastically located hotel overlooking the sea front and Grand Pier. Enjoy time to settle in and perhaps take a stroll along the prom before enjoying dinner and time to get acquainted with your fellow travellers at the bar, or a wander out to see the lights and fun of Weston at night.

Days 2 to 4

Enjoy a delicious breakfast each day followed by two INCLUDED excursions plus a day at leisure to make the most of your fabulous central location. Weston offers great entertainment, shopping and seaside strolls all close to your hotel. Back at the hotel in the evening, make the most of the reduced price bar and after dinner you can enjoy fabulous entertainment in your hotel on some nights - it might be hard to decide whether to stay in or go out!

Our included excursions gives the chance to enjoy a visit to Corsham. Explore the historic streets of Lacock, a quintessential English village with timber-framed cottages and local shops. With its central grid of four streets, Lacock today looks much as it did 200 years ago.

We also drive through Cheddar and the outskirts of the Mendips Hills on our way to visit the small but perfectly formed city of Wells, with its breathtaking cathedral and Bishops Palace. Wednesday is market day, so the ancient market square is bustling with traders selling local treats and produce as they have done for hundreds of years in this quaint spot. You will find yourself transported to a different age, whether you shop or explore this picture perfect setting. Whilst there enjoy a delicious included cream tea at The Cathedral.

Corsham & Lacock Village

From starring on the small screen in Poldark to exotic peacocks wandering the streets, the Wiltshire market town of Corsham is something of a hidden treasure. Sitting on the edge of the Cotswolds, its history is linked to wool and stone: the wool from the Flemish weavers who based themselves in the town; the stone from the famous Bath Stone, quarried locally and used in many of the town’s buildings. There is a great range of independent shops offering everything from collectible comics to vintage wares, locally made edible treats to eclectic and unique gifts.

There's lots to discover in the pretty Wiltshire village of Lacock: quaint traditional stone cottages, the old workhouse, the medieval tithe barn, the old lock-up and the village church. Lacock village is a firm favourite for film and TV producers, most notably for its picturesque streets and historic cottages, untouched by modern alterations. The village’s most famous appearances include 'Downton Abbey', the BBC’s 'Pride and Prejudice' and 'Cranford', and the films 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' and 'Wolfman'. For a more in depth experience you may also choose to visit the lovely Lacock Abbey. It started as an abbey and nunnery, then became a Tudor family home. The last owners were the Talbots, a caring close-knit family that loved their home in Lacock. It is also the birthplace of photography, and entrance to the Abbey includes the Fox Talbot Museum, housed in a sixteenth-century barn once used as stables. It tells the story of the birth of photography with objects and technology from the early years of photography, and hosts changing photography exhibitions in the Upper Gallery. Please note that entrance to the Abbey and Museum incurs a charge, whilst the Village is free for you to explore.

Wells with Cream Tea

Wells is the smallest city in England nestled at the foot of the Mendip Hills and famed for its stunning medieval architecture. As well as its spectacular cathedral, Wells boasts the Bishop's Palace and Vicars' Close, said to be the oldest residential street in Europe. Wells has a wealth of fine eateries and fashionable shops. There is always lots going on in the city especially if you visit on one of it's bustling market days! (Wednesday and Saturday visits only).

Wells Cathedral is set in the medieval heart of the city and is the earliest English Cathedral to be built in the Gothic style. We include a cream tea in The Loft Café which boasts views of the magnificent West Front of Wells Cathedral and over the tranquil moat of the Bishop’s Palace.

Clifton Village

INCLUDED Visitor DestinationClifton Village is a beautiful suburb of Bristol, tucked away from the hubbub of city life and located just a five-minute drive away from the centre. It is famous for some of Bristol’s most iconic landmarks, such as the Suspension Bridge and Observatory. There is always something to see and do, from shopping to dining, gardens and beautiful walks.
