Entertainment goes on throughout the day, from buskers and street entertainers to live performances - helped along the way by some local fairies and elves, and of course Father Christmas himself!Historic Glastonbury is a quirky, unique place to visit at any time of year. It's a compact town, where everything is within walking distance, retaining an independent and eclectic air that you are sure to love. The Abbey, dating from 670 AD is now an atmospheric ruin, and a visit is still very worthwhile. Prior to that time, the town existed as a Celtic religious centre. According to legend, 2000 years ago Joseph of Arimathea is said to have brought the young Jesus here. A 10-minute walk from the High Street will take you past Chalice Well to the foot of the famous mystical Glastonbury Tor. You can also enjoy the 'new age' side to the town, with mystic shops and free spirits who have made Glastonbury their home.
