CU5AEW

If you're looking for a relaxing, great value holiday by the sea, then this 5 day trip to the original British seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare is an ideal choice.

Sitting on the North Somerset coast with its two-mile long sandy beach, Weston has reinvented itself from its Victorian beginnings but retains much of its original charm. It still offers the traditional favourites like the donkey rides and amusements but it has also undergone a renaissance with new restaurants and attractions, so, even if you have been here before, you might not recognise it from your earlier memories. The impressive Grand Pier, stretching out to sea, is a kaleidoscope of fun, and you'll also find cafes, restaurants and bars to suit every taste and the seafront is conveniently close to the town centre with its many independent shops. The long flat promenade has plenty of benches and seats so you can take a rest whenever you want and milk in the view as you look out across to Wales with the islands of Flat Holm and Steep Holm in between.

You'll stay right in the heart of Weston in the comfortable family-run Royal Grosvenor Hotel, overlooking the sea and the impressive Grand Pier and making it easy for you to explore and enjoy this pretty seaside resort at your leisure. Your holiday will also include entertainment at the hotel on some nights, unless you'd prefer to head off into Weston to enjoy the nightlife.

For those looking to stay busy, we've included some lovely excursions for you to enjoy, but if you just fancy sitting on the pier watching the world go by, then that is absolutely fine too!

If you wish to explore further, we include a day out to the tiny medieval city of Wells, the smallest city in England, on market day and we'll aksi take you to Bath and then a scenic drive through the stunning Cheddar Gorge.

An ideal choice for:

* Anyone looking for a relaxing midweek break by the sea to do as much or as little as you want
* People who love to have the choice of doing their own thing or joining in with others
* Anyone just looking to switch off and have some fun

Itinerary

Day 1

Join your coach at your convenient pick up point this morning and, with a suitable stop on the way, head to Somerset's favourite seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare and your fantastically located hotel overlooking the sea front and Grand Pier. Take time to settle in and perhaps have a stroll along the prom before enjoying dinner and time to get acquainted with your fellow travellers at the bar, or a wander out to see the lights and fun of Weston at night.

Days 2 to 4

Enjoy your traditional full English breakfasts along with free time in Weston-super-Mare to make the most of your fabulous central location. Weston offers great entertainment, shopping and seaside strolls all close to your hotel. This elegant resort grew out of tiny fishing villages 200 years ago. The wonderful sweep of Weston Bay, with views over to Wales and down to Exmoor, is a never-ending source of satisfaction. Miles of broad, flat sandy beach are perfect for everyone. There’s also a host of cafes, pubs, and restaurants where you can sit and watch the world go by. Why not head to the lovely Grand Pier to enjoy the spectacular views of Weston?

Spend all of your time in the resort or join your INCLUDED excursion to Wells and Cheddar, plus visits to Glastonbury and Street.

Wells is the smallest City in England, which offers numerous historical marvels such as the famous 14th century Astronomical Clock, The Bishop’s Palace and of course, the outstanding cathedral. You will find yourself transported to a different age, whether you shop or explore this picture perfect setting. Cheddar is a large village situated on the southern edge of the Mendip Hills, famous throughout the world as the origin of Cheddar Cheese, produced here since the twelfth century. We also discover ancient Glastonbury, a charming town to browse and wander through, full of myth and magic from its mysterious past. You can explore the Abbey, reputedly the burial place of King Arthur himself, check out the fantastic independent shops or enjoy a drink or bite to eat in one of the many welcoming cafes and pubs. Make sure you leave room for dinner! Finally have a wander around Street, Somerset's largest village nestled in the heart of Somerset. This picturesque town is renowned for its rich history and vibrant community, and is also home to Clarks Village, a popular shopping outlet that attracts visitors with its diverse range of discounted products.

Return each afternoon and maybe enjoy a drink from the cosy bar before dinner while you share your memories from the day, with entertainment also provided on some evenings.

Day 5

It is sadly time to say farewell to Weston and Somerset today. After a filling breakfast and a leisurely start, we will leave Weston and head homewards with time to relax on board and a suitable stop on the way.

Weston-super-Mare

INCLUDED Visitor DestinationWeston-super-Mare, nestled on the Somerset coast and embraced by Weston Bay’s 2 mile long sandy beach has reinvented itself from its beginnings in Victorian history. The town centre's independent shops, cafes and bars are nestled within a few steps.

Well known for traditional donkey rides, the amusements and rides of the Grand Pier, ice-cream on the beach and fish & chips, there is so much more to offer as well! There’s two theatres, two cinemas, a free museum and a vast range of traditional and international cuisine – you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the amount of things to do.
