Buckfast Abbey

INCLUDED Visitor DestinationNestled in the shadow of Dartmoor, in a beautiful wooded valley beside the river Dart, Buckfast Abbey offers visitors a tranquil refuge from the hectic pace of everyday life. The Abbey is a working monastery where a community of Benedictine monks live self-sufficiently, welcoming visitors from all around the world. At the heart of the site is the Abbey Church, a spiritual haven for the many thousands of visitors who come each year. There is an overwhelming sense of peace as soon as you enter the grounds with the church surrounded by gardens which in the summer come alive with colour. Within the Abbey precinct, visitors can browse in the Bookshop or visit the Monastic Shop which has an extraordinary array of products made by nuns and monks across Europe. There is also a gift shop and information point by the Westgate entrance. In the Grange Restaurant, you can relax and enjoy tea and homemade cakes or choose from a range of hot meals and light snacks which are changed daily. This is a calm and beautiful place to spend time exploring at your own pace.

Totnes (Market Day) & Dartmouth

INCLUDED Visitor DestinationTotnes is a charming Devon town with a bustling main street and a regular market situated in the beautiful Dart Valley.  The town dates from 907AD and is surrounded by woodlands and riverside walks, built on a hill rising up from the lovely River Dart. Totnes has an excellent range of small independent retailers and unique shops, with a focus on fair trade goods, handmade crafts and ethical products alongside quality clothes, seasonal food, beautiful gifts and so much more. Every week the town bustles with lively, local traders selling crafts, gifts and food on Fridays and Saturdays, the perfect place to find a souvenir or local tasty treat.
