Oxford & Windsor Weekend

Itinerary

Day 1

Join your coach this morning and travel to the bustling city of Oxford. Enjoy free time to explore this great city before rejoining your coach later this afternoon. We will then travel for our comfortable overnight stay at the Ibis Reading Centre, which is ideally located in the town centre. Either simply relax at the hotel or your central location allows you to stay out as late as you like making the most of all the town has to offer including great food and drink.

Day 2

After a hearty breakfast, say farewell to your hotel and head for the royal town of Windsor, a firm favourite with Leisuretime visitors. Enjoy time to shop, sightsee and grab something to eat before rejoining your coach this afternoon to head homewards with lots of lovely memories and probably several souvenirs!

Oxford, The City of Dreaming Spires, is famous the world over for its University and place in history. For over 800 years, it has been a home to royalty and scholars, and since the 9th Century an established town, although people are known to have lived in the area for thousands of years. Take time to discover the history and heritage of Oxford, home to 1,500 listed buildings from every major period of British architectural history from the 11th Century onwards. The centre looks like an enchanted fairy-tale city – making Oxford is a firm favourite of filmmakers from all over the world, from Harry Potter to Inspector Morse along with having inspired countless famous writers over the centuries. Oxford is flat and compact, with many of its major attractions, including the University of Oxford and its 38 colleges, Bodleian Library, the museums, and Oxford Castle Unlocked right in the centre – perfect to explore on foot.

Windsor

INCLUDED Visitor DestinationThe beautiful, ancient royal town of Windsor, is situated on the River Thames with a rich history, dominated by Windsor Castle, one of the most iconic residences of the British Royal Family. Built by William The Conqueror in the 11th century, the castle was extensively remodelled by subsequent monarchs and remains one of the most impressive historic buildings in the country. The castle itself is surrounded by a warren of small streets offering a wonderful range of boutiques, shops, bars, cafes and restaurants for you to enjoy along with the impressive 5,000 acres of gardens that make up Windsor Great Park, and offers some lovely walking routes or maybe even a relaxing boat ride along the River Thames.
