Stratford-upon-Avon (during outbound journey)
Best known as the birthplace of England’s most famous bard, William Shakespeare, Stratford-upon-Avon is a pretty historic market town situated on the banks of the River Avon and a popular tourist destination attracting over three million visitors a year. With its beautiful surroundings, wide range of tourist attractions and great shopping, it’s not hard to see why this town is such a hit with coach trip visitors.
Royal Leamington Spa (half day on New Years Eve)
Royal Leamington Spa is a beautiful and prosperous town located in the heart of Warwickshire. With a current population of around 50,000, the town’s growth was largely due to the natural spa springs that were discovered and commercialised in the nineteenth century. This Regency town boasts magnificent tree-lined avenues, pleasant squares and the Royal Pump Rooms which house this elegant town’s museum and art gallery.
Birmingham (on New Years Day)
Vibrant and cosmopolitan, world class culture, scintillating shopping and bubbling with nightlife, Birmingham is now one of Europe’s most exciting cities. Its compact, pedestrian-friendly centre, public squares and revitalised canals provide an attractive setting for a visit full of pleasant surprises. Don’t miss the Bullring, an immense & incredible glass covered shopping experience.
Broadway (during return journey)
The Cotswolds village of Broadway is often referred to as the ‘Jewel of the Cotswolds’ and the ‘Show Village of England’ because of its sheer beauty and magnificence. The ‘broad way’ leads from the foot of the western Cotswolds escarpment with a wide grassfringed street lined with ancient honey coloured limestone buildings dating back to the 16th century and earlier (the oldest house is Abbots Grange built in 1320 as the summer retreat for the Abbots of Pershore). Many well-known characters have spent time in Broadway drawing inspiration from its beauty and location including Oscar Wilde, Claude Monet, Edwin Abbey, John Singer-Sargent, William Morris and Edward Elgar.
