Valkenburg at Christmas

Valkenburg is located in the South Limburg part of Holland, famous for its beautiful undulating scenery and pretty villages. As the oldest tourist centre in the Netherlands, Valkenburg itself boasts many attractions. It is famous for its historic caves with a network of over 150 miles of underground corridors beneath the town. A visit to these fascinating caves is highly recommended (opening varies seasonally). There is plenty to keep you occupied above ground as well, such as the striking Valkenburg Castle ruins, the only castle in the country built on a hill. There are also many shops, bars, cafés and restaurants.

The Valkenburg Christmas Markets in the Netherlands offer a unique festive experience within enchanting caves. Wander through beautifully lit tunnels filled with holiday stalls, crafts, and seasonal treats. Enjoy the magical ambiance, festive decorations, and warm mulled wine, making Valkenburg a charming holiday destination.

Maastricht

Maastricht is a beautiful city to visit, filled with history, art and culture. It is a city surrounded by beautiful nature set in the south of Holland and boasting beautiful historic little districts, welcoming and exceptionally good restaurants and eateries, and plenty of art and attractions. And the best thing is that you can see the entire city centre on foot. Maastricht is also a city of indulgence and culinary highlights. There are pleasant lunchrooms, Michelin-starred restaurants and an extensive range of excellent regional products and dishes. In short, ‘bons vivants’ should not miss out on Maastricht!

Cologne at Christmas Market Time

A visit to Cologne during the Christmas season offers a magical experience with its enchanting Christmas markets. The iconic Cologne Cathedral, beautifully illuminated, provides a stunning backdrop to the festive stalls. Explore the main market at the Cathedral, where you can enjoy mulled wine, traditional German treats, and handmade crafts. Don’t miss the Alter Markt, with its fairy-tale ambiance, ice skating rink, and charming carousel. The Harbour Christmas Market, set along the Rhine River, offers a unique maritime twist. Cologne’s festive atmosphere, rich history, and vibrant markets make it a perfect destination for soaking in the holiday spirit and creating unforgettable memories.
