Royal Leamington Spa
Royal Leamington Spa is a beautiful and prosperous town located in the heart of Warwickshire. With a current population of around 50,000, the town’s growth was largely due to the natural spa springs that were discovered and commercialised in the nineteenth century. This Regency town boasts magnificent tree-lined avenues, pleasant squares and the Royal Pump Rooms which house this elegant town’s museum and art gallery.
Melton Mowbray is a quintessential English market town and renowned for its fine food and drink, particularly its pork pies and Stilton© Cheese. It is no wonder that Melton Mowbray is known as the ‘Rural Capital of Food’. But there's more to Melton Mowbray than food. Twinlakes Park offers a great day out for the family with water rides, animals and picnic areas to enjoy. The local Carnegie Museum is an interactive centre where children can enjoy learning about the local area and see exhibits such as the two-headed calf! The town itself is steeped in history and there is a walking heritage tour that explains the history of the town - there are even two apps available to make sure you don't miss any of the sites of interest.
Oakham, the county town of Rutland, is steeped in medieval history, scrumptious food and stylish shopping. This pretty, traditional English market town is always bustling with activity. Packed with heritage, there’s plenty to see including the fascinating Rutland County Museum and historic Oakham Castle, conveniently set right next to the Market Place and Britain's finest surviving example of Norman architecture. Railway enthusiasts can admire Oakham Signal Box, built in 1899. It became famous after it was used by Airfix, and subsequently Dapol, as the template for all their model railway signal boxes. It is one of a number of signal boxes in England that are on the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest and it is in daily use to this day. Oakham also has an exciting and mouthwatering choice of menus to sample at an abundant mix of cafes, bars, restaurants and pubsto suit every budget. With so many local attractions to explore and plenty of stylish shops and boutiques to visit, don't miss out on the opportunity to sample Oakham's locally brewed ale!
