Days 2-3

With its fabulous medieval Cathedral, the charming butter cross in the centre of its Roman street plan and buildings from every era, Chichester lives and breathes its history whilst also being home to a host of fabulous independent shops, pubs, restaurants, pavement cafés and a number of galleries. Be sure to spend time exploring all that this ancient city has to offer. In addition we will also enjoy a visit to the lovely, unspoilt market town of Arundel dominated by its castle and cathedral.

We include time at the unique Weald And Downland Living Museum where a vast array of rural buildings and artifacts from across Sussex have been reassembled to give a taste of life in times gone by. The Museum has more recently found fame as the home to the much loved BBC programme The Repair Shop.

Day 4

After our final breakfast today we board our comfortable coach for the last time and head for home with suitable stops on the way, full of memories with our newly made friends.

Chichester

Chichester is a Roman cathedral city and the only city in West Sussex. There is history on every corner, from the Tudor Market Cross to the dominant Norman Cathedral. The city is mostly pedestrianised with lots of spaces to enjoy lunch outside and the Cathedral and museum are right in the heart of the city.

Arundel

The beautiful market town of Arundel is rich in history and culture, and dominated by its Gothic cathedral and Norman castle, straight out of a medieval picture book, home to the Dukes of Norfolk for over a thousand years. You will discover more than you’d expect in the town that combines a thousand years of history with independent shops, contemporary galleries, places to eat and drink and great attractions. Arundel really is one of the gems of Sussex.

Weald & Downland Living Museum

The unique Weald & Downland Living Museum is a hidden gem in the South of England, quintessentially British in a picture perfect setting. A museum for those who want to see, touch and even smell what life was really like for people living in years gone by. Whether you are 5 or 95 there is something for everyone! This open-air museum has a collection of over 50 buildings spanning a period of 600 years. Enjoy waterside dining at the Museum’s café with fantastic views overlooking the millpond and watermill.

More recently it is also known for being the site of the hugely popular BBC TV series ‘The Repair Shop’. However, please note that it is a closed film set and is not accessible to the public. The set including the outside of the barn is visible from a short distance but there is no public access beyond that point.
