Great Yarmouth is Norfolk’s third most populous place. Its fishing industry, mainly for herring, shrank after the mid-20th century and has all but ended. North Sea oil from the 1960s brought an oil-rig supply industry that services offshore natural gas rigs. More recent offshore wind power and other renewable energy have led to further services. Yarmouth has been a resort since 1760 and a gateway from the Norfolk Broads to the North Sea. Holiday-making rose when a railway opened in 1844, giving easier, cheaper access and bringing some settlement. Wellington Pier opened in 1854 and Britannia Pier in 1858. Through the 20th century, Yarmouth boomed as a resort, with a promenade, pubs, trams, fish-and-chip shops and theatres, and the Pleasure Beach, the Sea Life Centre, the Hippodrome Circus and the Time and Tide Museum, and a Victorian seaside Winter Garden in cast iron and glass.Tour Includes

Cromer & Sheringham
INCLUDED Visitor DestinationCromer is a classic North Norfolk seaside town, situated on a cliff-top overlooking fine sandy beaches. Cromer Pier has survived despite bad damage over the years and is a traditional seaside pier with a Lifeboat Station and Pavilion Theatre, which still stages end of pier shows. Developed into a significant resort by the late Victorians, when healthy breezes were sought, the architecture of the time lends the town a feel of elegant grandeur. Cromer church dominates the town with the tallest tower in Norfolk. The streets and alleys are crammed with shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes for you to explore - a browser's delight! You'll love it here... Sheringham is a traditional seaside town, which grew up around the original old fishing village, with a few little boats still bringing in the daily catch. Sheringham is home to the North Norfolk Railway (The Poppy Line), which operates steam train rides to Holt. Bracing sea air, cliffs, fine sands and real character are some of the reasons why this resort is so popular, with plenty of facilities, including many interesting shops, pubs, restaurants and tea rooms.
