After joining the coach at one of our convenient local pick up points, we head for Folkestone and the county of Kent with convenient coffee/lunch stops along the way. We expect to arrive at the Grand Burstin late afternoon, in time for your first evening of fabulous cabaret entertainment and dinner.

This is a delightful coastal town bursting with heritage, culture and history that is within a very short distance of the channel ports and so an ideal excursion on this tour.
Whilst boasting a long and sand beach, Boulogne beyond the beach includes the 13th century ramparts that surround the Haute Ville (or upper town) with its charming cobbled streets and beautiful architecture, which look rather like a film set. It’s here in the upper town, also known as the Ville Fortifiée, that you’ll find the Château-Musée de Boulogne, with its archaeology, local history and fine-art displays along with the city’s cathedral, the Basilica of Notre Dame. Completed in 1875 on the site of a medieval cathedral, Notre Dame boasts the longest crypt in the whole of France. The oldest monument in the walled city, is the UNESCO World Heritage listed belfry, connected to the town hall. This square Romanesque tower, built between the 12th and 18th centuries, was spared during the Revolution because it was the only place in Boulogne from which one could keep watch over enemy ships. On clear days, you can see the southern coast of Britain from the belfry.
Please note that whilst we have a full day excursion to Boulogne, after allowing for travelling time and ferry crossings we should have around 4 hours to enjoy the town.
One of England's lesser known coastal resorts, Hythe adjoins Folkestone and is famed for its gorgeous beach walks. The Royal Military Canal is a hugely popular and easy route and ff you walk along from West Hythe, you can see the remains of the old Portus Lemanis, the original Roman port, now high and dry. The Canal was dug between 1804 to 1809, in the hope that it would defend Kent from invasion by Napoleon and halt a march on London. There is also pretty St Leonard's church and back in Hythe Town Centre, you can visit the local history room in Hythe Library and learn about the town, which has quite a history as one of the historic Cinque Ports. In front of the library there is a small sensory garden where you can sit when its fine and enjoy the peaceful park.
