Tuscan Super Deal With Free Bar!
Fabulous excursions and a friendly seaside hotel...
Tuscany has long held a special place in the hearts of British visitors, who find its gentle landscapes of treeclad hills and red-roofed, sun-baked buildings both uplifting and relaxing. This delightful tour aims to show you some of the best that this beautiful region has to offer on a relaxed and indulgent itinerary.
For Tuscany, there is little doubt that the jewel in its crown is the peerless city of Florence, closely followed by ancient Pisa, with its incomparable clutch of spectacular buildings. You'll see both on this tour along with a visit to the nearby harbour town of La Spezia plus a trip to historic Lucca.
Our base for this lovely holiday is Marina di Pietrasanta*, a beach resort on the Versilia Riviera overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, 8km north of Viareggio. The sea, beach, pinewoods and mountains that surround the resort bestow a tranquil air, whilst the resort itself offers plenty to see and do for the visitor. Not only will you enjoy great dinners every evening in our lovely hotel, but you will also be able to enjoy a free bar for local beers, wines and spirits (house rules apply). What's not to love?
* Please note that our tour departing on the 3rd of August stays in the delightful spa town of Montecatini Terme, famous for its thermal waters and considered one of the biggest and best "spa towns" in Italy. At the turn of the 20th century, the amount of hotels started growing and so did the need to combine the thermal bathing with fun, relax and sport. A host of trendy restaurants, theatres, night clubs opened, as well as a casino, and a lot of celebrities began to visit the city. In fact, it was easy to meet people like Giuseppe Verdi, Pietro Mascagni, Ruggero Leoncavallo, Trilussa, Beniamino Gigli and Luigi Pirandello in the city centre and in the thermal parks. A great base for this summer departure...
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.

Lucca & Pisa
One of the oldest cities in Tuscany, and the home of composer Puccini, Lucca offers a tangle of narrow, cobbled streets, laced with churches, chapels and pretty piazzas. Mention Pisa and it’s impossible for the famous Leaning Tower not to spring to mind. Situated in Campo dei Miracoli, the medieval bell tower is part of Pisa’s famous architectural trio, harking back to its former glory days. Alongside the ‘Tower’ is the equally impressive Duomo (cathedral) and the Baptistery.
Along the coast to La Spezia
Join our coach for an excursion to nautical La Spezia. The seafront here is wide and provides lots of opportunities for gawping at boats of all sizes. A strip of park runs along the esplanade, making it a pleasant place for a stroll or a sit-down. There are also luxuriant parks, owing their existence to the turn-of-the century lavishness that is also commemorated in the town’s architecture and public buildings. Via del Prione is one of La Spezia’s busiest streets, a largely-pedestrianised thoroughfare.
Florence by rail - with guided walking tour
Visit the birthplace of the Renaissance, a veritable treasure-house of art and architecture. Of all the great Italian cities, this is one of the best-loved. The huge terracotta dome of the cathedral was designed by Brunelleschi to dwarf the buildings of ancient Greece and Rome, and it still dominates the skyline today. Enjoy a walk to the Piazzale Michelangelo, where you will be able to look out over the entire city spread along the banks of the Arno. Shop for jewellery on the famous Ponte Vecchio; join art-lovers from around the world at the Uffizi, Bargello and Accademia; and linger over coffee in the Piazza della Signoria, the impressive city square.
