The sea breeze swishing through your hair, the sensation of the beach between your toes and the smell of vinegary chips lingering in your nostrils: everyone has vivid memories of their childhood seaside holidays and the traditional Victorian holiday resort of Eastbourne is one of our best-loved choices. Eastbourne has a charm unrivalled on the south coast, with dazzling floral displays, magnificent Carpet Gardens, a delightful Victorian pier and a famous bandstand. The resort boasts a fantastic beach, with eight miles of coastline sheltered by the South Downs, itself designated ‘An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’.
Don't miss out on our exciting INCLUDED excursions to Lewes, Bexhill and Hastings along with some great evening entertainment at the hotel.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
The Glastonbury Hotel
The Glastonbury Hotel is superbly positioned on the seafront. This excellent family-owned hotel is a particular favourite of Leisuretime clients. The hotel has a bright ground floor restaurant with great sea views along with an atmospheric bar lounge to relax in and enjoy the entertainment. There is a lift to all floors.
After joining the coach at one of our convenient local pick-up points, we head towards the delightful seaside resort of Eastbourne. There will be convenient coffee/lunch stops along the way and we aim to arrive at the lovely Glastonbury Hotel in the late afternoon. After checking in and unpacking, why not relax in the bar with a drink or take a stroll along the seafront before enjoying a lovely dinner and in-house entertainment.
Enjoy a hearty breakfast every day along with free time to enjoy Eastbourne on your own. Make sure you also join us for your INCLUDED excursions to Lewes, Bexhill and Hastings, returning to the hotel every evening for more tasty dinners and entertainment.
After a final breakfast, it is sadly time to make our way home. After stopping for a coffee/lunch break, we continue homewards.
Lewes & Bexhill
Lewes - At the heart of rural Sussex lies the beautiful county market town of Lewes - a mixture of the unusual and intriguing and so typically Sussex. Its medieval streets, old English churches and tiny twittens (a Sussex word for alleyway) allow visitors a glimpse into the true essence of bygone Lewes. Although surrounded by chalk cliffs, the townscape is dominated by the remains of a Norman castle and is also home to the handsome townhouse of Anne of Cleves (fourth wife of King Henry Vlll). For beer lovers, it is also home to the excellent Harveys Brewery!
Bexhill - Apart from being a pretty seaside town, Bexhill-on-Sea is also the birthplace of British Motor Racing, the home of the De La Warr Pavilion, where Bob Marley performed his frist-ever UK gig as a support act to Johnny Cash back in the day and the location for a Guinness World Record breaker for the largest Charleston dance. Bexhill-on-Sea is a tranquil, seaside town located at the very heart of the district of Rother and a great place to visit.
Hastings (half day)
To the east of Eastbourne, we find Hastings, a seaside resort and fishing port. It’s best known for the Battle of Hastings in 1066, and you can still see thousands of years of history in the town’s streets. In Hastings Old Town you can still see the tall wooden huts used for drying fishing nets, and the largest beach-launched fishing fleet in Europe. At the other end of the seafront, west of Old Town is the beach, Georgian and Victorian buildings, the pier and colourful promenade.
