Christchurch, The New Forest & Lymington
INCLUDED Visitor DestinationWild horses won’t be able to drag you away from the New Forest once you’ve experienced its peace and fallen in love with the forest’s idyllic glades, ancient woodland, open moors, heathland and cliff top walks. Proclaimed a royal forest by William the Conqueror, this beautiful and natural area covers over 71,000 acres of the south coast. An amazing holiday destination in itself, escape to a world where ponies, cattle, donkeys and deer roam free in this stunning natural habitat. The pretty Saxon town of Christchurch is peacefully placed between two rivers, with glistening golden sands on one side and the green vistas of the New Forest on the other. Cobbled streets lead to the historic ruins of the town’s castle overlooking the river, while beautiful parks and glades open to life upon the water at the quayside. Church Street and Wick Lane have some wonderful and unique little gift shops if you are looking for something special. With its postcard-like harbour and quayside you might enjoy a boat trip for wonderful riverside views.
Situated on the west bank of the Lymington River, in the heart of the New Forest, Lymington is a major yachting centre with three marinas. We recommend a wander through the pretty cobbled streets of the old town and on to The Quay to watch the luxury yachts and fishing boats come and go. The High Street is made up of an eclectic mix of Georgian, Victorian, Art Deco and Medieval architecture, and a hive of activity with great shopping and tasty treats waiting to be discovered.

The world was introduced to the Georgian grandeur of Weymouth during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, when its fine seafront provided an impressive backdrop to the sailing events and captured the hearts of many! Sit back and relax with a glass of fizz or a Dorset Cream Tea from one of the harbourside bars or bistros...a great way to spend an afternoon! In the main season, you can visit Nothe Fort. Built by the Victorians to protect Portland Harbour, this unique attraction is a network of underground passages and is steeped in history, and it provides stunning views out towards Portland and over Weymouth Bay.The coastal town of Swanage on the Isle of Purbeck is pure seaside nostalgia, served by a traditonal steam train, take a walk along the Victorian pier or enjoy a coastal walk with stunning views and amazing wildlife. Many artists have made their home in this beautiful town, and you can browse and buy their unique wares from the many studios, gift shops, galleries and workshops the town has to offer.
