Bury MarketINCLUDED Visitor DestinationVisit the Lancashire town of Bury for the world famous Bury Market, one of the oldest and most-popular shopping destinations in the UK. For over 500 years (amazingly established in 1444), Bury has had a market, and today it is a unique shopping experience and the biggest in the North West. Oozing charisma and atmosphere, the ambience and layout offers visitors the opportunity to seek out and visit every stall. The range of products and facilities is second to none with around 370 stalls selling everything from meat and groceries to clothing and jewellery. It's a unique shopping experience and a great day out where you can buy anything and everything in one location. For those that just love to shop there are even more shops in the neighbouring Mill Gate Shopping Centre and also in the Rock Shopping Centre, which is just a short walk away. After all that shopping you will have earned a well-deserved break. Stop off at one of the many delicatessens, cafes and takeaways, and enjoy a local treat like a Manchester Tart or Eccles Cake, whilst no trip to Bury Market would be complete without sampling the local delicacy, Bury Black pudding!
LiverpoolINCLUDED Visitor DestinationFull of history, culture and friendly people, Liverpool is the ideal destination to discover and enjoy. With a wonderful collection of museums, galleries, shopping and dining, there really is something for everyone in this fantastic city. The coach will take you to the historic Albert Dock complex with a great range of visitor attractions including the iconic ‘Beatles Story’. You can also take a ferry across the Mersey, browse some of the amazing shopping opportunities, or visit the historic city centre. Liverpool is a vibrant, artistic city full of life waiting for you to explore.
Blackpool IlluminationsINCLUDED Visitor DestinationThe world-famous Illuminations need little introduction. There are six miles of traditional festoons and tableaux along the Promenade - no wonder it’s commonly known as the greatest free light show on Earth! The first set of Illuminations were introduced when Blackpool Council devoted the sum of £5000 to experiment with the concept of electric street lighting, starting off with eight arc lamps on 60ft poles along the seafront. This installation brought visitors to the seaside resort to see this new electricity at work; the start of the annual influx of tourists that we see today. However, unlike today’s modern day technology with the Illuminations, the lamps used to go out as the tide came in due to water leaking into the cast iron wiring pipes! Each year of the light display is different, with new and favourite lights being maintained and developed. Many famous names have travelled to Blackpool over the years to commemorate the beginning of the annual Illuminations. Celebrities who have pulled the Switch-On lever include comedian Ken Dodd, actor David Tennant, Hollywood film director Tim Burton, actress Lucy Fallon, and even some unlikely names such as Red Rum the race horse and even Kermit the Frog!
