Babbacombe

INCLUDED Visitor Destination

Babbacombe is a district of Torquay, but is itself a popular all-year-round resort town on South Devon’s glorious English Riviera.

Affectionately known as the ‘Jewel in the crown of the English Riviera’, the beach resort of Babbacombe includes a great range of things to do and see in a quiet, laid back setting. Despite being right next to the vibrant Torquay, you’ll find that Babbacombe is amazingly secluded, and with picturesque views and warm weather all year round it’s the ideal location to enjoy the best of South Devon.

Enjoy an idyllic walk along Babbacombe Downs, the highest cliff top promenade in England. Here you can take in the spectacular coastline of South Devon spotting seabirds, seals and even dolphins from above! Take a trip on the historic Cliff Railway or discover the Model Village, set in 4 acres of award-winning gardens, showcasing British life past and present in a humorous way through hundreds of model scenes, vehicles and miniature people. A wide choice of pubs and restaurants are available, all serving excellent local food and drink and the best of South Devon cuisine, notably Hanbury’s Fish and Chips – much loved and much tasted by visitors – which serves up fresh, locally caught fish, chunky home-made chips and offers fine views across the bay.

Paignton

It’s a superb holiday haven for people of all ages. Paignton is part of the UNESCO accredited English Riviera Global Geopark recognising its extraordinary natural beauty and heritage. There's plenty to do here all-year-round with a huge number of indoor and outdoor attractions. Don’t miss Devon’s 18th century Paignton Harbour, a real maritime gem with a bevy of boats, a historic harbour wall plus delightful restaurants and cafes where you can sample the famous local fish or try some tapas. This is England’s Seafood Coast with delicious fresh fish coming in daily from nearby Brixham. Tucked away behind Paignton Harbour is Fairy Cove a hidden Devon beach to discover. You’ll also love the gardens at nearby Roundham Head with its jaw-dropping views and access to Goodrington Sands, another spectacular beach.

Dartmouth

You have to go a long way to find a town as pretty as Dartmouth. Overlooking one of the finest natural harbours in the UK, Dartmouth has a strong maritime heritage with the iconic Royal Naval College set on a hill overlooking the town. You will find a host of narrow lanes, stairways and corridors, and historical streets to explore. The town has fine restaurants, as well as arts, antiques and craft shops just about everywhere. The Greenway Ferry takes visitors across the river to the world famous home of Agatha Christie, who so loved this area. You are bound to fall in love with Dartmouth too!

Torquay

INCLUDED Visitor DestinationThe thriving traditional seaside town of Torquay has always been a top UK destination resort and for good reason. With its iconic palm trees, busy harbour, beautiful marina, sandy beach and wonderful array of cafes, bars & restaurants, there is something new to enjoy and discover during each visit. Grab a bucket and spade for a day at the beach, wander into town to enjoy an array of brand and independent shops or just take a stroll and marvel at the unique beauty that Torquay's gardens, seafront and walks provide. Don't forget, if you fancy a bit more sightseeing, Torquay's marina offers a wide selection of boat trips, allowing you the opportunity to discover the English Riviera Coastline by sea. The covered Fleet Walk and Union Square in Torquay offer an eclectic mix of high street and independent stores, whatever the weather. A Street & Craft Market is also held on Union Street every Thursday and Saturday all year round with a variety of stalls from local businesses.
