The Hague
INCLUDED Visitor DestinationThe Hague is a vibrant city that offers visitors a unique blend of modern and historical culture, with its stunning architecture and world-class museums. Rich in art galleries, theatres and parks, The Hague also boasts a variety of impressive shopping districts, trendy bars and delicious restaurants.
Holland’s “Royal City” is the seat of Holland’s parliament and government and the residence of its royal family. The Hague is a very spacious city, with wide-open green areas and an intriguing mixture of ultra-modern and medieval buildings. Centerpiece of The Hague tourist attractions is the oldest parliamentary building Binnenhof, built in the 13th century and currently being extensively rennovated. Visit Vredespaleis, the “Peace Palace”, built between 1907 and 1913 as a symbol of The Hague’s role in international law and order. It houses busts of several people involved in campaigning for peace throughout the world, as well as gifts from other countries.
The Hague has wider streets with no canals, giving the city a continental feel. The international courts and the UN buildings help with this cosmopolitan feel. You can also find a range of restaurants and bars inspired by cuisine from all over the world.
The city has some excellent beaches nearby, with over 5 miles of coastline to explore. Nearby Scheveningen is a modern seaside resort with a long, sweeping beach, a pier, a lighthouse and an esplanade. The beach is a popular area for water sports such as kiteboarding or windsurfing.
