Cardiff City & Bay Area

INCLUDED Visitor DestinationCardiff is a city full of life, whether you visit day or night. Those looking for culture won't be disappointed, the National Museum houses the largest collection of Impressionist art outside Paris as well as works spanning over 500 years of art history, and the Museum of Cardiff tells the tale of the city from its 1300s origins to present day. A visit to the city wouldn't be complete without at least glimpsing majestic Cardiff Castle, surrounded by beautiful parklands on one side and the thriving, modern metropolis on the other. Inside you’ll find a story 2000 years in the making. If retail therapy is more your thing Cardiff has no less that six Victorian arcades where you can find independent shops, family-run cafes and cute boutiques, an amazing glass roofed Market which has been trading since the 1700s, plus a host of modern shops and international brands.

If trendy new areas and nightlife is what you are after then Cardiff Bay is the ideal location. This area of the city was hugely significant in the 1900s, being the main way of transporting coal from South Wales to the rest of the world. It has since been reinvented into a waterfront escape from the city's bustle. Wales Millennium Centre is the country's equivalent to the Sydney Opera House, hosting shows, performances and major events inside a spectacular architectural delight. The Senedd is the home to the National Assembly for Wales, and the nearby Pierhead and Norwegian Church in which legendary author Roald Dahl was baptised are all worth a visit - or just enjoy a coffee and watch the world go by in this bustling area!

St Fagans National Museum of History

St Fagans National Museum of History is Wales's most-visited and loved heritage attraction, standing in the grounds of magnificent St Fagans Castle, a late 16th-century manor house donated to the people of Wales by the Earl of Plymouth. We have included a special Curator's Talk to ensure that you get the most from your visit.

Over fifty original buildings from different locations in Wales and different historical periods have been re-built in the 100-acre parkland. Each building is frozen in time and opens a door into Welsh history. See how people in Wales have lived, worked and spent their leisure time. The buildings include farmhouses, a row of ironworkers’ cottages, medieval church, Victorian school, chapel and a splendid Workmen’s Institute. Walk through the elegant formal gardens of St Fagans castle or see the cottage gardens that provided food for working families. Native breeds of livestock can be seen in the fields and farmyards, and demonstrations of farming tasks take place daily. There are also workshops where craftsmen still demonstrate and sell their traditional wares. This is your chance to see one of the last working clogmakers in Wales, meet the blacksmith, the weaver working in the 18th century woollen mill and miller producing flour in the 19th century corn mill. Experience living history at its best!

Castell Coch

Castell Coch, just outside Cardiff, is a fairytale castle steeped in history and enchantment. This 19th-century Gothic Revival masterpiece, built on medieval ruins, boasts stunning turrets, intricate interiors, and panoramic views of the surrounding woodland. Perfect for history buffs, families, and photographers alike, Castell Coch offers a glimpse into Welsh heritage with its romantic architecture and captivating atmosphere. Discover a unique blend of fantasy and history in an unforgettable visit.

National Botanic Garden of Wales

INCLUDED Visitor DestinationThe National Botanic Gardens of Wales set in the beautiful River Tywi valley, is both a visitor centre and a centre for research and conservation. The collection of thousands of plants varieties are spread over 500 acres of Welsh countryside. You can admire the themed gardens, the world’s largest single-span glasshouse, the plant collections, a tropical Butterfly House, nature reserve and the British Bird of Prey Centre. The Garden's centrepiece is the Great Glasshouse designed by world-famous architects Norman Foster and Partners. Inside the amazing tilted glass dome is a Mediterranean landscape dominated by a six-metre deep ravine. Rock terraces and sheer faces are cut by streams and waterfalls. A lake provides a humid habitat at the foot of the chasm. A place of international significance dedicated to conservation, horticulture, science, education, leisure and the arts. As a landmark Millennium project, the Garden of Wales links the history of the last millennium with the present.
