Babbacombe

INCLUDED Visitor Destination

Babbacombe is a district of Torquay, but is itself a popular all-year-round resort town on South Devon’s glorious English Riviera.

Affectionately known as the ‘Jewel in the crown of the English Riviera’, the beach resort of Babbacombe includes a great range of things to do and see in a quiet, laid back setting. Despite being right next to the vibrant Torquay, you’ll find that Babbacombe is amazingly secluded, and with picturesque views and warm weather all year round it’s the ideal location to enjoy the best of South Devon.

Enjoy an idyllic walk along Babbacombe Downs, the highest cliff top promenade in England. Here you can take in the spectacular coastline of South Devon spotting seabirds, seals and even dolphins from above! Take a trip on the historic Cliff Railway or discover the Model Village, set in 4 acres of award-winning gardens, showcasing British life past and present in a humorous way through hundreds of model scenes, vehicles and miniature people. A wide choice of pubs and restaurants are available, all serving excellent local food and drink and the best of South Devon cuisine, notably Hanbury’s Fish and Chips – much loved and much tasted by visitors – which serves up fresh, locally caught fish, chunky home-made chips and offers fine views across the bay.

Don’t miss Devon’s 18th century Paignton Harbour, a real maritime gem with a bevy of boats, a historic harbour wall plus delightful restaurants and cafes where you can sample the famous local fish or try some tapas. This is England’s Seafood Coast with delicious fresh fish coming in daily from nearby Brixham. Tucked away behind Paignton Harbour is Fairy Cove a hidden Devon beach to discover. You’ll also love the gardens at nearby Roundham Head with its jaw-dropping views and access to Goodrington Sands, another spectacular beach.

INCLUDED Visitor DestinationThe thriving traditional seaside town of Torquay has always been a top UK destination resort and for good reason. With its iconic palm trees, busy harbour, beautiful marina, sandy beach and wonderful array of cafes, bars & restaurants, there is something new to enjoy and discover during each visit.
