Adding in the magical Lights Trail at Waddesdon Manor will truly make this a weekend to remember! In addition, you will be staying at the wonderful 4* Comet Hotel, a comfortable and perfectly located base for this festive break, with dinner and breakfast included. Enjoy!

Waddesdon Manor is a French Renaissance-style château nestled in the heart of Buckinghamshire. For the festive period, it transforms into a magical wonderland. The Manor’s façade will come to life with bespoke projections and Waddesdon’s spectacular landscape will be lit with a kaleidoscope of colour, lights and music along a light trail through the grounds. See the gardens sparkle brightly with mesmerizing light installations. Look out for the shooting stars on the Parterre! You can also browse over 70 hand-selected artisan stalls with unique and handmade gifts at the Christmas Fair.

We'll whisk you away to beautiful Cambridge, famous worldwide for its association with the colleges that lie within its boundaries, and with some fantastic architecture, little cobbled courtyards and interesting shops and boutiques. As an added bonus, a Winter Wonderland returns to Cambridge in 2024 with a Christmas Market, Alpine Lodge bar, Big Wheel and Ice Rink amongst the attractions.

Last but not least, we visit the historic university city of Oxford with its honey-gold buildings and riverside setting. The architecture is fabulous, from the golden, stately university buildings to the atmospheric 13th-century pubs. The city of dreaming spires will be filled with festive joy as you wander through the cobbled streets, enjoy the fabulous Christmas shopping opportunities and let the beauty of the city sweep you away.

Accommodation

The Comet Hotel Hatfield

A stylish new hotel housed in a Grade II-listed building, with a chic restaurant and thoughtful design touches

The Comet Hotel in Hatfield is a 4 star hotel which has seen a multi-million pound refit, and has been refurbished for the modern age, bringing a fabulous hotel destination. First opening its doors in 1936, the original Comet Hotel was named for the locally built de Havilland Comet DH.88 racing aeroplane. The eponymous hotel was actually designed around the footprint of the aircraft, which gives the building its unusual and iconic shape. The refurbishment and extension is based on the rich heritage and period glamour of the original Comet Hotel, hearkening back to this golden age of air travel, glamour and sleek design. Beautiful period architecture, classic design and future-facing technology combine to create a welcoming and exciting environment, a rebirth for Hatfield’s most iconic building.

It now boasts a total of 65 guest rooms which combine comfort and considered design to give you the best possible stay. It is home to the warm and welcoming Element Bar & Kitchen with excellent food and drinks, all locally sourced where possible. The hotel also has lift access.
