The New Forest
Enjoy a scenic tour through the New Forest and step back in time to discover the charm and natural beauty of this unique destination. The New Forest became a national park in 2005 and was once a royal hunting ground for William the Conqueror. It covers an area of 566 square kilometres and is made up of vast tracts of unspoilt woodland, heathland and river valleys. Today deer, ponies and cattle continue to roam free in its ancient heaths and woodland, so keep your eyes peeled!
‘The city in the countryside’ is surrounded by a landscape so quintessentially English it’s almost too good to be true.
If you pause on the edge of the water-meadows to take in the awesome sight of the Cathedral rising up from these lush green fields, it’s easy to understand why Salisbury was named as one of the world's Top 10 Cities to visit by Lonely Planet.
Within the Chapter House ast Salisbury Cathedral you’ll find the best preserved of the four original Magna Carta manuscripts dating from 1215AD, celebrated within an exhibition at the Cathedral's Chapter House. Over 750 years of history, including Britain's tallest spire and Europe's oldest working clock, this is a must-see on your visit today.
