The iconic palm trees could fool you into thinking you were in the Mediterranean. The coast of Torquay is scattered with beautiful piers and russet-red cliffs. Enjoy long leisurely walks along the promenade and take in the relaxed atmosphere. Make time to walk up the steps of Royal Terrace Gardens. Remember to take in the amazing sea views across the bay at night with the lights reflecting onto the sea. Add an Agatha Christie connection and steam trains and it all adds up to some grand days out beside the sea.
This tour will bring you the best of the English Riviera, with excursions to Newton Abbot and Exmouth, a scenic drive through Torbay including Babbacombe, Paignton and Brixham. We’ve added a cream tea too, we know it is a Leisuretime favourite!
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
The Riviera Hotel
The Riviera Hotel is in the heart of Torquay is the perfect place to enjoy fabulous food, comfortable bedrooms, cabaret entertainment, superb indoor pool and friendly customer service, and it’s just a few minutes’ walk from Torquay’s award winning beaches, sparkling blue sea and all that Torquay has to offer. The accommodation comprises 140 well-appointed bedrooms with digital flat screen TVs, hairdryers and tea & coffee making facilities. Guests can enjoy free entertainment to suit all ages on most evenings of the year, including bingo, quizzes, highly professional cabarets and dancing.
After joining the coach at one of our convenient local pick-up points, we head south towards pretty Torquay with convenient coffee/lunch stops along the way. We expect to arrive at our seafront hotel in the late afternoon. Check-in, unpack and maybe take a stroll along the promenade before enjoying a delicious dinner at our hotel followed by amazing entertainment.
Days 2 - 4
Enjoy hearty traditional English breakfasts every day along with free time to explore Torquay and the area on your own. Make sure you don't miss out on our INCLUDED scenic drive through Torbay including Babbacombe, Paignton and Brixton. There will also be a visit to Newton Abbot, Exmouth and a cream tea. Return to the hotel every evening for more tasty dinners and fabulous entertainment.
After a final breakfast it is sadly already time to make our way home. After stopping for a coffee/lunch break, we continue homewards.
Torbay scenic drive (Babbacombe, Paignton, Brixham) & cream tea (half day)
Babbacombe is a magical spot on the English Riviera, with great beaches and attractions including Babbacombe Downs, the highest clifftop promenade in England. From the top you can enjoy views of the spectacular South Devon coastline. Also at Babbacombe is the Cliff Railway, taking passengers down to Oddicombe Bay.
The seaside resort of Paignton with its long stretch of beautiful and easily accessible beachfront, promenade, traditional pier and colourful beach huts offer one of the brightest jewels in the English Riviera’s crown.
Life in the busy Devon fishing town of Brixham has always centred around the harbour, where heritage trawlers jostle for space with dayboats heading out to sea for the day’s catch, bringing it home daily to Brixham’s famous Fish Market. Here, in the heart of England’s Seafood Coast, the freshest fish and most delicious seafood is on the menu everywhere. Brixham is the quintessential English harbour, with a colourful and vibrant feel all year round, making it as ideal for a summer holiday with the kids as it is for a romantic winter break for two.
Newton Abbot on Market Day & Exmouth
Newton Abbot is an historic market town surrounded by beautiful South Devon countryside. The town is home to a large range of shops, restaurants and open spaces. If you like shopping, there are a number of markets held throughout the week including an outdoor market held on a Wednesday and Saturday, and a popular indoor Pannier Market. As well as the markets, Newton Abbot town centre is home to wide variety of shops from high street names to independent retailers and a department store. The town also provides access to some great parks and outdoor spaces Decoy Country Park, Courtenay Park and Bakers Park can all be found within walking distance of the centre, as can the Town Quay and new bridge.
Exmouth is one of the oldest and most picturesque seaside towns in Devon and a joy to visit at any time of the year. This relatively flat, vibrant town offers plenty of walking, a buzzing harbour as well as local shops and restaurants. The town is the gateway to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and has two miles of sandy beach for you to enjoy.
