Itinerary

9-Day Itinerary

  • Day 1

Door-to-Door service, then to Belgium for an overnight stay.

  • Day 2

Continue to Niederau in the Wildschonau Valley in the Austrian Tyrol, where we stay for six nights.

    Meals - Breakfast, Dinner

  • Day 3 - St. Johann & Kitzbühel

We begin the day with a visit to the charming Tyrolean market town of St. Johann. Known for its beautiful baroque twin spire church, pretty town square and the local Huber Brau beer, you will have free time here before we continue to the chic resort town of Kitzbühel.

Kitzbühel is set against a spectacular backdrop of stunning Alpine scenery and combines a modern sophistication with a fairy-tale atmosphere where the multitude of bars, pavement cafés and shops blend harmoniously with cobbled streets and picturesque painted houses.

You will have free time to explore or perhaps opt to take a cable car ride up the mighty Hahnenkamm Mountain for some spectacular views of the region (extra cost, approximately €28 payable locally).

    Meals - Breakfast, Dinner

  • Day 4 - Zell am See

Join us today for our included excursion, as we travel to the lakeside town of Zell am See, a fashionable resort with an irresistible atmosphere and one of the best loved beauty spots in the Salzburgerland area.

Why not take a cable car ride up the Schmittenhoehe Mountain (payable locally) for incredible views of the surrounding scenery or embark on a lake cruise (payable locally)?

    Meals - Breakfast, Dinner

  • Day 5 - Ziller Valley & Gerlos Pass to Krimml Falls

Today, our included excursion takes us through the Ziller Valley and to the picturesque town of Fügen, where we will have free time before continuing over the scenic Gerlos Pass to Krimml Falls.

These magnificent falls are widely regarded as some of the best in Europe. At 380 metres, the cascading waterfalls of Krimml create the longest free fall of water in Europe and the fifth highest in the world.

There will be time at leisure to walk alongside the lower falls. Don’t forget your brolly, as even on the sunniest days there can be quite a lot of spray!

    Meals - Breakfast, Dinner

  • Day 6 - Free Time or Herrenchiemsee

Today’s optional excursion takes us to Chiemsee, Bavaria’s largest lake, so big, in fact, it is also known as ‘the Bavarian Sea’.

We take a boat from the first class spa resort of Prien over to Herreninsel, and on to Herrenchiemsee, the largest and most expensive castle built by King Ludwig II.

In 1873, Ludwig acquired Herreninsel as the location for his Royal Palace, but the actual building work didn’t start until 1878. From plans drawn by Georg Dollmann the palace was built as a ‘Temple of Versailles’ for King Louis XIV of France, whom the King greatly admired.

Unfortunately, Ludwig never saw his Royal Palace finished and, after his death in 1886, only the sections along the main axis, with their famous fountains and waterworks, were complete.

Nowadays, visits to the most famous part of the palace, the 98-meter long 'Hall of Mirrors' and the royal bedchamber, in which no one has ever slept, are both a must.

    Meals - Breakfast, Dinner

  • Day 7 - Free Time or Innsbruck & Nordkettenbahn

Free day at leisure in resort or join our optional excursion to Innsbruck, the capital of the Tyrol.

There will be free time for you to discover the old quarter with its charming arcaded streets, the famous Golden Roof, stroll along Maria Theresien Strasse with its bustling shops or climb the Tower of the City for magnificent views of the city.

Alternatively, why not combine your visit to Innsbruck with a trip on board the Nordkettenbahn and in included lunch? You will be transported high into the mountain terrain up to the Hungerburg mountain station where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city. We then take the cable car further up the mountain to an altitude of 1905 metres above sea level enjoying fantastic views of the Middle Inn Valley, the Stubai and Zillertal Valley Alps and the Wipptal Valley over the Italian border.

If you wish to venture even higher, you can join the cable car to the Hafelekar, the highest viewpoint at 2256-metres.
