4-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Local departure by coach and travel to Liège for a three-night stay.
Day 2 - Valkenburg
We cross the border into the Netherlands today and visit the beautiful town of Valkenburg. Valkenburg is sometimes called ‘Marlstone Town’ because of the lime found in the soil and the soft yellow marlstone which has, since Roman times, been quarried as a building material. As a result, there is now a network of over 150 miles of underground corridors beneath the town. There is plenty here to keep you occupied above ground as well, such as the castle ruins and shops, bars, cafés and restaurants.

Day 3 - Aachen and Liège
This morning we venture into Germany and visit Aachen, where you have time to explore the stunning old town. Aachen is famous for its magnificent cathedral and the Elisenbrunnen fountain, which is also the symbol of the town. We return to our host town of Liège where the Christmas market will still be open (subject to confirmation of dates). Here, you can enjoy some late Christmas festivities.
