We continue to Lake Maggiore and the resort of Baveno. Here we take a short boat ride on the lake which takes us to the opulent resort town of Stresa. • Day 4 - Free Time or Como Market & Lugano

We travel to the centre of Como town on our optional excursion. With a long history you can see many highlights from the town's past including medieval walls, towers and streets and a cathedral that took almost 400 years to complete! Como produces 80% of Europe’s silk and there are many boutiques in the centre selling high quality silk merchandise. There is also the regular market, which takes place every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. We continue over the border into Switzerland and to the beautiful town of Lugano. Be sure to visit Via Nassa, one of town’s historical streets and Lugano’s number one shopping destination. Its elegant and sophisticated atmosphere is not to be missed.

    Meals - Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • Day 5 - Free Time or St. Moritz & Bernina Region Railway

Today, for those passengers who have pre-booked, our optional excursion takes you to the world famous resort of St. Moritz. Sporting life has always been an important part of St. Moritz, and over 100 years ago the first British visitors used to stage Toboggan races in the streets. There will be a short amount of time for you to explore before we board the Bernina Region Railway and cross one of the highest railroad lines in the Alps. As we approach the Swiss / Italian border, we travel over the Brusio spiral viaduct, an amazing feat of engineering that allows the train to gradually descend 20 metres in a relatively short distance. We arrive in Tirano, a quaint Italian town, where we spend a short amount of free time before returning to our hotel.

    Meals - Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • Day 6 - Milan

A fantastic included excursion to beautiful Milan where there will be free time for you to explore the city that shares its title as one of the Fashion Capitals of the world with London, New York, Paris and Tokyo. To introduce you to the sights, why not join our optional sightseeing tour where you will discover the historical and artistic heart of Milan? Accompanied by our local guide we start by coach on a panoramic tour passing by the Monumental Cemetery, Porta Garibaldi and Corso di Porta Venezia. We stop at Via Verdi where we then continue on foot to La Scala Theatre, one of the world’s most famous opera houses (entrance included). We then continue to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a covered double arcade connecting Piazza della Scala to Piazza Duomo. Finally we conclude our tour with the magnificent Gothic-style Duomo, the seat of the Archbishop of Milan.

    Meals - Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • Day 7 - Free Time or Lake Como Cruise

Why not join our optional half-day excursion with a cruise on Lake Como? This excursion will show you two of the loveliest villas and gardens of the area, Villa del Balbianello and Villa Carlotta. We start by boarding the boat in Cadenabbia and sail across the lake to Villa del Balbianello, situated on the Lavedo promontory in the central and most beautiful part of the lake (entrance to the gardens included). After a visit to its beautiful gardens we continue to the resort of Bellagio where there will be free time for you to explore the town. We return, by boat, to Cadenabbia where we visit the beautiful Villa Carlotta in neighbouring Tremezzo (entrance included). Villa Carlotta attracts visitors from all over the world with its wonderful collection of flowers, trees and shrubs. After the visit, take a stroll along the lakeside back to the hotel. * Please note that this excursion is not suitable for passengers with mobility issues due to the degree of walking involved and the amount of steps at Villa Balbianello.
