Itinerary
Day 1
Local departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to Belgium for an overnight stay.
Day 2 - Cologne & the Rhine Valley
We leave Belgium and head to the city of Cologne with its splendid Gothic cathedral and twin spires that dominate the skyline.
After free time, we continue along the Rhine Valley with the opportunity to enjoy an optional relaxing cruise along the river to admire the sedate scenery of the vineyards and castles that adorn the valley.
We continue to the Mannheim area for our overnight stay.

Day 3 - Heidelberg
Enjoy an included morning visit to the picturesque town of Heidelberg which lies on the River Neckar and is famed for its university, dating back to 1386, its castle and Old Town – the ‘Altstadt’.
After time for lunch, we head south to our accommodation in the Oberammergau area for a two-night stay, with time to relax ahead of tomorrow’s spectacle.

Day 4 - Oberammergau Passion Play
Enjoy a relaxing morning in the area around Oberammergau. We will have lunch at noon, ahead of the Passion Play.
The play has a running time of approximately five hours in total, with a meal served during the interval. The performance begins at 2:30pm* concluding around 10:30pm, with a three-hour break at 5:00pm when dinner is provided. After the performance, you will be transferred back to your accommodation.
The play is traditionally performed in German and a textbook with the complete play text is included on all tours.
* From 17th Aug-4th Oct, times for the play are as follows: performance begins at 1.30, dinner 4pm-7pm, performance ends at 9.30pm.

Day 5 - Innsbruck
We leave after breakfast and head for the splendours of Austria’s Tyrol. En route to our hotel, we call into the Tyrolean capital of Innsbruck. Surrounded by steep mountains, the city’s location is most impressive. Perhaps the most notable landmark is the Golden Roof from where the Emperor Maximilian I used to watch the events in the square below.
We continue to our hotel in Austria for a three-night stay.

Day 6 - Salzburg
Today, join our included excursion to the ‘Sound of Music’ city, Salzburg. Here, you can enjoy free time to explore the quaint narrow shopping lanes and lovely squares and perhaps sample a strudel and coffee in one of the many pavement cafés.
Our optional guided walking tour is also a wonderful way to discover sights and sounds that have made this delightful city so famous.

Day 7 - Free Time or Lake Achensee
It’s our final day in Austria! Join our optional scenic excursion along the Alpenstrasse to Lake Achensee, the largest lake in the Tyrol. Here you have some free time to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. There is also the chance to take an optional cruise on the lake to take in the picturesque views.
As we return to our hotel, you have the choice to travel by coach or, for part of the way, take an optional ride on the rack and pinion railway from Seespitz to Jenbach which offers stunning views.

Day 8
We leave after an early breakfast and head north into Germany arriving at our overnight hotel in Belgium this evening.

You will stay for three nights in a 4-star hotel in the Austrian Tyrol, such as the Hotel Sonnschein in Niederau. You will also stay for two nights in the Oberammergau area.
Overnight stays in Belgium and in central Germany will be in city-style hotels.

All our holidays include accommodation in either Oberammergau itself or the surrounding villages, so you can arrive in Oberammergau in good time before the play and enjoy an included lunch before the performance begins. During your stay in Oberammergau, you will also enjoy a three-course meal each night.<_o3a_p>
We offer a choice of accommodation to suit all tastes. Hotels in Oberammergau have been graded by the Passion Play committee according to the facilities available. All categories of accommodation include shower or bath and WC.<_o3a_p>
