Day 3 - Dresden Guided Sightseeing; Weisseritztalbahn Train Ride
Join our optional guided walking tour through Dresden’s historic old town. You will see, hear and experience a wealth of history and anecdotes linked to Dresden’s famous attractions: the Zwinger Palace; the world-renowned Semper Opera House; the Catholic Hofkirche; Dresden Castle; and the Taschenberg Palace. The 'Procession of Princes' (the longest porcelain image in the world), the Brühl Terrace (known locally as the 'Balcony of Europe') and the Frauenkirche (the Church of Our Lady) are also included in the route. We later head to Freital, where we board the Weisseritztalbahn, one of Saxony's oldest narrow gauge railways offering a public service. The Weisseritztalbahn follows a course regarded as one of the most beautiful routes in Europe, passing through the picturesque valleys, winding rivers and numerous bridges of the eastern Ore Mountains from Freital to Dippoldiswalde near the Czech border. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Rabenau Gorge, as we climb nearly 350 metres, on a line which was originally constructed in the 1880s.

Day 4 - Dresden to Pillnitz Palace Boat trip
Board one of the famous Elbe paddle steamers for a 90-minute cruise to Pillnitz Palace, the former summer residence of the Saxon royal court. Beautifully situated on the banks of the River Elbe on the southern edge of the city, the palace is one of Saxony's architectural treasures and was built to rival the Palace of Versailles. The beautiful gardens and the architecture of the Chinese-style palace are a true delight. Enjoy the unique nostalgic charm of the paddle steamers as our cruise takes us along the Elbe past beautiful palaces, vineyards, and the famous Blue Wonder suspension bridge. At the time of its completion, the bridge was one of the longest bridges ever built that wasn't supported by pillars, and the citizens of the city declared it a masterpiece of technology, painting it blue.

Day 5 - Radebeul to Moritzburg Train Ride
Join our included excursion as we travel to Radebeul for a train ride to the sleepy village of Moritzburg. Travelling on the Lößnitzgrundbahn narrow gauge railway, we head through the pretty scenery along the 16 kilometre track, passing vineyards, forests and ponds. If the weather is suitable, you may get the opportunity to sit in the open summer car. In Moritzburg, you will see the impressive 15th century Baroque palace, surrounded by water, and one of the finest castles of its kind. This 15th century hunting lodge was converted and expanded by Augustus the Strong in the early 1700s, turning it into the Baroque palace that you see today. Later we return to Dresden for free time.
