Itinerary
Day 1
Local departure by coach, then to Remagen for four nights.
Day 2 - Vulkan Express
Today we discover the Eifel region on our included excursion on board the Vulkan Express.
We start the day by travelling by coach to Bonn, from where we include a cruise to Brohl, passing Linz en route. Relax and enjoy the passing scenery, as we enjoy our included light lunch onboard.
We disembark at Brohl riverside and meet our train, the Vulkan Express. The train will take you through one of the most scenic valleys of the Rhine to Engeln. The carriages are pulled by diesel or steam locomotives, through the Brohl Valley where you will see volcanic formations, stone viaducts, castles and a monastery as you meander through the countryside.
After arrival in Engeln the train will take us past the half-timbered station at Burgbrohl, and on to Brohl. Our coach will meet us at Brohl, and we return to our hotel in Remagen.
Following dinner, we enjoy a guided historical walk around Remagen. The small town of Remagen is famous for its bridge that fell into American hands in 1945, providing them with passage across the Rhine.

Day 3 - Ahr Valley Train & Wine Tasting
Today we include a full day excursion into the Ahr Valley on board the Ahrtalbahn. We board the train not far from our hotel, and take a journey through narrow valleys past stunning scenery.
The train arrives in romantic Altenahr, where the centre is dominated by the scattered ruins of the 12th century Burg Are.
We continue by train to Mayschoss, for a horsedrawn buggy ride through the vineyards, dotted on the slopes of the Ahr. These vineyards provide the grapes for producing some of the best wines in Germany, and you will get a chance to taste the wines, as we enjoy an included tasting whilst in Mayschoss.
Later, we travel by train from Mayschoss to Ahrweiler Markt, have a short walk into the old walled town of Ahrweiler which still retains its medieval gates and fortifications. The pedestrian streets, surrounded by half-timbered houses, are easy to explore on foot, and after time for exploration,we return by train from Ahrweiler Markt to Remagen.

Day 4 - Koblenz & Cochem
Enjoy a full day exploring the Moselle on our optional excursion. We head first to Koblenz, situated at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle.We head along the Moselle River – a more tranquil river valley in contrast to the vibrant Rhine. Later, we arrive in Cochem, the ‘pearl of the Moselle’. A picturesque town with narrow cobbled streets, twisting alleys and restored half-timbered houses with slate roofs, all overlooked by the magnificent Reichsburg Castle.
