Itinerary

16-Day Tour

  • Day 1 – Local departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to northern France for an overnight stay.
  • Day 2 – To the Parma area for an overnight stay.Breakfast, Dinner
  • Day 3 – Continue south, past Rome, to reach the Sorrento Peninsula for a three-night stay.Breakfast, Dinner
  • Day 4 – Included excursion to see the haunting ruins at Pompeii, which was buried in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD, then drive up to Mount Vesuvius itself, which commands spectacular views over Naples. You can walk the final kilometre to the summit to view the crater which is usually still smouldering. (There is a local charge of approx. €10 to visit the crater).Breakfast, Dinner
  • Day 5 – Included excursion to Sorrento, one of the most popular resorts on the Neapolitan Riviera. From here you may wish to join our optional excursion to the Isle of Capri. Sail across the Bay of Naples to this lovely island where Gracie Fields once lived, and see the whitewashed houses, smart villas, colourful gardens and open-air cafés. Take in the views back to the mainland and, in particular, the imposing site of the cone of Mount VesuviusBreakfast, Dinner
  • Day 6 – To Sicily for a five-night stay.Breakfast, Dinner
  • Day 7 – Today’s included excursion takes us to Mount Etna, Europe’s highest active volcano at 3350 metres. Our coach takes us to within 1900 metres and, if the weather is good, you can visit the summit by local bus (optional). Later, enjoy free time in Taormina.Breakfast, Dinner
  • Day 8 – Free day to relax in resort.Breakfast, Dinner
  • Day 9 – Enjoy a fantastic, full-day optional excursion, starting with a boat trip from Milazzo to the island of Panarea. There will be free time for you to explore or perhaps go swimming at Zimmari beach. In the evening, the boat leaves for the island of Stromboli to view the mighty volcano at night – the best time to see the mountain’s fiery explosions. We watch from offshore, before returning by sea to Milazzo, with a light dinner of pasta, wine and water included on board.Breakfast, Dinner
  • Day 10 – Optional excursion with a guide to enjoy the delights of perhaps the most beautiful town in Sicily, Syracuse, once the most powerful of all Mediterranean cities and home of the famous Archimedes.Breakfast, Dinner
  • Day 11 – To Fiuggi near Rome for an overnight stay.Breakfast, Dinner
  • Day 12 – To Rome, where you can join our optional, guided sightseeing tour by coach and on foot, seeing the Colosseum (admission extra), Trevi Fountain and many other famous sights. Continue to our overnight hotel in Tuscany.Breakfast, Dinner
  • Day 13 – To the Austrian Tyrol for a two-night stay.Breakfast, Dinner
  • Day 14 – Having seen plenty of ‘Fire’, today we see the ‘Ice’. Our included excursion takes us along the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse to the top of Austria’s highest mountain, the Grossglockner (Big Bell), where you can view Austria’s longest glacier from the viewing platform. A truly formidable sight.Breakfast, Dinner
  • Day 15 – To Belgium for an overnight stay.Breakfast

Accommodation

You will stay in minimum 3-star hotels for one night in the Parma area of northern Italy; one night in Fiuggi, to the south of Rome; and one night in Tuscany.

You will spend three nights on the Sorrento Peninsula in a 3-star hotel such as the Hotel Mary in Vico Equense, followed by five nights on the island of Sicily at a minimum 3-star hotel such as the Hotel Kennedy in Sant Alessio in Siculo.

In the Austrian Tyrol you will spend two nights in a minimum 3-star hotel.

Overnight stays in northern France and Belgium are in city-style hotels.
