This morning, after breakfast, we introduce you to the town of Greifswald on a brief included walking tour. We then head to nearby Stralsund, a little town which lies on a strait of the Baltic Sea. It is here that our guide will introduce you to the Old City on our included guided walking tour. We see the Gothic Town Hall, originally built in the 13th century and the Church of St. Mary’s. Afterwards we take to the water for a short cruise around the harbour.

  • Day 4 - Isle of Usedom & Peenemünde

Our destination today is the Isle of Usedom, which is one of Germany’s most popular holiday resorts due to its stunning natural beauty. We travel to Peenemünde, and to the highly acclaimed Historical Technical Museum, which between 1936 and 1945, was one of the most modern technological facilities in the world. In October 1942 the first launch of a missile into space took place here. It was also the development site of the infamous V1 and V2 rockets during WWII.

Included guided excursion to Rügen, Germany’s largest island, connected by two bridges with Stralsund. The island is a popular holiday destination due to its abundance of sandy beaches, national parks, and natural panoramas. During the day we include a short journey on the steam train from Putbus to Binz, the perfect way to see the island.

Spend time in the Danish capital on our included excursion, and to make the most of your visit, why not join our optional guided sightseeing tour? Copenhagen has many fascinating landmarks and beautiful architectural masterpieces, which are largely connected to the Danish throne and the royal family. Right in the centre of the city there are four Royal Palaces of which Amalienborg is the residence of Queen Margrethe ll. During the tour we also see ‘Den Lille Havfrue’ or ‘Little Mermaid’, sculptured by Edvard Eriksen; the statue is famous for being the inspiration for Hans Christian Andersen’s beautiful fairy-tale.

A day at leisure or why not join our optional excursion, which takes in the beautiful countryside and coastline, on a journey in the footsteps of the Danish monarchy. We travel to the northernmost point and visit the small fishing town of Gilleleje. From here we head inland to the town of Hillerød and to the impressive Frederiksborg Castle, built in magnificent Renaissance style with a touch of baroque. There will be time here for you to explore the impressive gardens. (Please note: entrance to the castle is not included).
