Day 2 - Alnwick Castle
Today we travel to Alnwick, once the administrative town for the whole of Northumberland. Here, the castle has dominated since 1096 when construction began in order to control and protect the border. It has numerous defences such as a 2-metre thick wall and a 7-metre deep moat. It is the second largest inhabited castle in England, second only to Windsor Castle, and has been home to the Percy family for over 700 years.
More recently, it has been a filming location for some of the Harry Potter movies, Downton Abbey and countless other TV shows and films.
The town of Alnwick itself is a bustling medieval market town, with twisting cobbled streets and an eclectic collection of shops.

Day 3 - Hadrian's Wall
Follow in the footsteps of Romans and walk alongside the ancient monument of Hadrian's Wall. This was the north-west frontier of the Roman Empire for nearly 300 years and there's history beneath every step of this 73-mile wall.
We visit Chester Roman Fort, managed by the English Heritage, and uncover more of the history of this unique wall.

Day 4 - Northumberland Coast
Today we visit Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and marvel at the scenery.
We call at some of the delightful towns here, such as Seahouses, a pretty port surrounded by traditional fishermen's cottages, and Craster, home to the dramatic Dunstanburgh Castle – a ruined coastal fortress that lies outside of the village and is famous for delicious oak-smoked kippers.
