Itinerary

  • Day 1

Door-to-Door departure, then to Valkenburg where we stay for four nights.

  • Day 2 - Valkenburg

We have a day at leisure to relax and explore Valkenburg’s quaint cobbled streets and pretty buildings. Situated at the crossroads of three countries, Valkenburg has long been a favourite destination on account of its exuberance and extremely varied appeal. Valkenburg, or 'the Marlstone Town' as it is known locally, is famous for its castle and the elaborate system of Roman caves and tunnels which run beneath the town. Explore the quaint cobbled streets and beautiful buildings of this enchanting fortified town, or alternatively, relax with a glass of the local white beer.

  • Day 3 - Rhine & Moselle Valleys

Today's included excursion takes us to the majestic Rhine Valley. Famous for its picture-postcard villages, fairy tale castles and vineyards, there is no wonder that the area is considered by many to offer the most picturesque scenery in Germany. We visit the quaint Rhineland town of Boppard, which was once a Roman fort. Enjoy time at leisure in this pretty town to explore or amble along the promenade.

During the day, an optional River Rhine lunch cruise will be available. Join us as we cruise through the Rhine gorge, famous for its ancient castles, picturesque villages and vine-clad slopes, and enjoy lunch on-board ship. Later, we travel to Alken in the Moselle Valley, where we enjoy an optional wine tasting at the house of Anton Hammes, one of the famous vintners of the area. The Hammes family have been vintners here for over 300 years, and you will enjoy a wine tasting, with four or five different varieties offered, before having the chance to purchase your favourites to bring home with you.

    Meals - Breakfast, Dinner

  • Day 4 - Drielandenpunt & Aachen

Join our included excursion as we travel to the Drielandenpunt (Three Country Point), near to the town of Vaals and where the borders of Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands all meet. There will be a short amount of time here to take photos and explore before we continue into Germany to the nearby city of Aachen, famous for its magnificent cathedral and the Elisenbrunnen fountain, which is also the symbol of the city. There will be free time here for you to explore before returning to the hotel in time for your evening meal.
