Dec 23 - Villach
This morning we continue southwards towards Slovenia. En route we visit the charming town of Villach on the Austrian/Slovenian border. Villach is the second largest town in Corinthia and is nestled amongst the mountains. There will be free time for you to explore its beautiful old town before we continue to our hotel in Kranjska Gora for a four-night stay.

Christmas Eve - Free Time or Postojna Caves
Today we visit the world-famous Postonja Caves on our optional excursion. Our trip will take you on a fascinating journey beneath the surface of the Earth into the web of tunnels, passageways and halls. Our tour starts on the unique cave railway, which will take us through the Gothic Hall, Congress Hall and onto the Great Mountain. From here we continue on foot following the illuminated path into the Spaghetti Hall, White Hall and Red Hall all aptly named due to their characteristic stalactites and stalagmites. During the walking tour we also see the ‘Olm’ or ‘human fish’, which has been listed as a rare and endangered species since 1982. We return to the hotel for dinner, then this evening, after midnight mass, enjoy mulled wine and cakes.

Christmas Day - Mlacca Gorge Nativity Show
Merry Christmas! Enjoy a morning at leisure before we head to the nativity show in the Mlacca Gorge, in Mojstrana. Visit the unforgettable world of the Snow Queen and see the statues in the icy kingdom, lit by the flare of torches and lights. Take a walk among the ice clad trees and across footbridges to see a fountain of ice crystal waterfalls where you can watch the theatrical nativity performance. Tonight we enjoy dinner and live music.

Boxing Day - Ljubljana & Bled
After breakfast why not join our included excursion to Slovenia’s capital, Ljubljana. It may be one of Europe’s smaller capital cities but it is filled with history and ancient sights. Ljubljana, developed by the Romans, is now a blend of Baroque Churches and mansions overlooked by a medieval castle. Spend the day at leisure exploring this fascinating city or take a stroll along the willow-lined walkways along the Ljubljana River. To make the most of your visit why not join our optional guided walking tour? We take a walk through the elegant Baroque streets and over the picturesque bridges to see the beautiful churches and palaces, and enjoy the atmosphere of the squares and riverbanks.Afterwards en route to our hotel, we pause in the beautiful resort of Bled. Often referred to as the pearl of the Alpine Region, the lake is situated in a picturesque environment surrounded by mountains and forests. Whilst here why not try the local specialty, Kremna Rezina, a delicious vanilla custard and cream cake.

Dec 27 - Ramsau
Depart Slovenia for Salzburg where we stay for two nights. En route we make a stop in Ramsau, with an optional visit to the Dachstein Glacier. We join the panorama gondola lift to the top of the Hunerkogel Mountain. Here you will be surrounded by the dramatic Dachstein Massif where you can enjoy the stunning views (weather permitting) over Austria’s peaks. For the best views head along the skywalk, considered to be the most spectacular viewing platform in the Alps. To complete your visit, perhaps relax with a coffee or mug of hot chocolate in the Glacier restaurant.

Dec 28 - Salzburg
After breakfast we travel to Salzburg, the ‘Sound of Music City’ on our superb included excursion. One of the most beautiful cities in Austria, Salzburg has something to offer every visitor, from lovely squares and medieval lanes to Gothic churches and quaint cafés.To make the most of your time in the city why not join our optional guided walking tour with a local, English speaking guide? During our tour you will see many sights featured in the Sound of Music film along with many other attractions of this famous alpine city. Admire the baroque splendour of the churches and cathedral, the might of the Hohensalzburg fortress and also the quaint Getriedegasse, one of the most beautiful shopping streets of Austria. A visit to Salzburg would not be complete without the mention of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and before the tour is over we see his former birthhouse and also the square that is named after and dedicated to the famous composer. A truly memorable experience awaits you and all at a relaxed pace.

You will stay for four nights at the 4-star Hotel Kompas in Kranjska Gora. The hotel lies right at the foot of the ski slopes, surrounded by a vast gardens and green meadows. The hotel offers 149 comfortable rooms, each room is equipped with wi-fi, digital TV, phone, safe and a hairdryer. You will then stay for two nights at the 3-star superior Austria Trend Hotel Salzburg Mitte or similar.
You will also stay overnight in the Austrian Tyrol at a minimum 3-star hotel.
Overnight stays in Belgium will be in city-style hotels.
