Not Included

  • DAY 1 UK to Venice
  • Depart on your scheduled flight to Venice today. On arrival you'll transfer to your hotel, where you can get to know your fellow travellers over a drink and dinner this evening.
  • DAY 2 Venice
  • Venice, an extraordinary city of canals, palaces and Renaissance architecture, is celebrated the world over. St Mark's Square is the focal point of the city and the place to discover the Basilica di San Marco and the soaring Campanile. The photogenic Rialto Bridge is the main crossing over the Grand Canal, while the magnificent Doge's Palace offers a fascinating insight into the city's history. Today you can explore all of these sights and more in the company of a Local Guide.

There will also be time for a stroll through the streets and squares at your own pace. Venice has a wealth of inviting cafés, some traditional and some more cosmopolitan, so maybe soak up the Italian culture as you take a seat and relax in the company of your travelling companions.

Another fantastic option is the chance to enjoy a gondola ride through the network of canals – this is a great way to gain a different perspective of this fabulous city.

  • DAY 3 Bologna
  • Tuscany's rolling hills lead us to Bologna today. Featuring lavish squares and porticoed walkways, the city is also known for its food, as ragù, or Bolognese sauce, originated here. We will then continue to Montecatini Terme, where we stay for three nights.
  • DAY 4 Florence
  • Florence is known as Italy's 'Art City'. It is home to works by great masters such as Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. Built beside the River Arno, the city's compact historic centre can be easily explored on your included excursion today. Stroll across the Ponte Vecchio, climb the steps of the Duomo and admire glorious works of art among the Renaissance streets and piazzas. During your visit, be certain to visit Il Porcellino, the statue of a boar located in Mercato Nuovo – if you throw a coin into the grating at its feet and rub its shiny nose, legend has it you will return to this wonderful city one day.
  • DAY 5 Pisa
  • Today is free for you to enjoy as you wish or perhaps you'll choose to join our three-quarter day excursion to Pisa. The city is home to one of Italy's most recognisable sights, the famous Leaning Tower. Residing in the Field of Miracles, this 180ft campanile took 176 years to build and began to lean shortly after construction. Thankfully the structure has recently been secured yet it still retains its famous lean.
  • DAY 6 Siena
  • On our way to Rome today we will make a stop at the medieval town of Siena, which is an enchanting place to explore. One of the most perfectly preserved medieval cities in Europe, its narrow streets lined with palaces and mansions lead to the spectacular Piazza del Campo, which is the setting each year for the colourful and intense Palio horse race.
  • DAY 7 Rome
  • Rome is bursting with history and world-famous landmarks. On our tour of the city we will call at many of its well-known locations, including the magnificent Colosseum, the largest Roman amphitheatre to have ever existed, St Peter's Square and the Vatican City – the world's smallest independent state.

We'll also take in the Spanish Steps, which were designed in the 18th century and join the Piazza di Spagna with the church of Trinità dei Monti, and we'll see the famous Trevi Fountain, a Baroque artwork considered to be the city's most beautiful fountain. This evening we have arranged an optional farewell dinner in a nearby restaurant.

  • DAY 8 Rome to UK
  • We fly back to the UK today.
