  • Day 1 UK to Venice
  • Depart on your scheduled flight to Venice today. On arrival we'll transfer you to your hotel, where you can get to know your travelling companions over a drink and dinner this evening.
  • Day 2 Venice
  • Venice, an extraordinary city of canals, palaces and Renaissance architecture, is celebrated the world over. St Mark's Square is the focal point of the city and the place to discover the Basilica di San Marco and the soaring Campanile. The photogenic Rialto Bridge is the main crossing over the Grand Canal, while the magnificent Doge's Palace offers a fascinating insight into the city's history. Today you can explore all of these sights and more in the company of a Local Guide.
There will also be free time for you to head off and explore at your own pace. Perhaps you'll decide to treat yourself to a gondola ride, a wonderful way to take in the sights of this remarkable floating city.
  • Day 3 Bologna
  • We are heading to Bologna today, a beautiful city of lavish squares and porticoed walkways. It is also known for its food, as ragù, or Bolognese sauce, originated here.
We'll then continue via the lovely landscape of Tuscany's rolling hills to Montecatini Terme, where we'll stay for three nights.
  • Day 4 Florence
  • Florence, known as Italy's 'Art City', is home to works by great masters such as Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. Built beside the River Arno, its compact historic centre is easily explored on foot, as you'll discover on our included tour today. While you're here, you can also choose to visit the Uffizi Gallery for an optional skip-the-line guided tour. Be sure also to head to Il Porcellino, the famous statue of a boar located in Mercato Nuovo. If you throw a coin into the grating at its feet and rub its shiny nose, legend has it you will return to this wonderful city one day.
  • Day 5 Pisa
  • Today is free for you to spend at leisure or perhaps you'll choose to join our three-quarter day excursion to Pisa. The city is home to one of Italy's most recognisable sights, the famous Leaning Tower. Residing in the Field of Miracles, this 180ft campanile took 176 years to build and began to lean shortly after construction. Thankfully the structure has recently been secured yet it still retains its famous lean.
  • Day 6 Siena
  • On our way to Rome today we will make a stop at the medieval town of Siena, which is an enchanting place to explore. One of the most perfectly preserved medieval cities in Europe, its narrow streets lined with palaces and mansions lead to the spectacular Piazza del Campo, which is the setting each year for the colourful Palio horse race.
  • Day 7 Rome
  • Rome is bursting with history and world-famous landmarks. On our tour of the city we will call at many of its well-known locations, including the magnificent Colosseum, the largest Roman amphitheatre to have ever existed, St Peter's Square and the Vatican City – the world's smallest independent state.
We'll also take in the 18th century Spanish Steps, which join the Piazza di Spagna with the church of Trinità dei Monti, and we'll see the famous Trevi Fountain, a Baroque artwork considered to be the city's most beautiful fountain. Today you also have the option to visit the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel with a skip-the-line ticket, meaning you won't have to queue.
This evening why not join an optional farewell dinner in a nearby restaurant.
  • Day 8 Rome to UK
  • We'll transfer to the airport for our flight back to the UK today.
