Itinerary

  • Day 1 UK to Milan
  • Today you'll fly to Milan, where on arrival we'll transfer you to your hotel in the picturesque town of Tremezzo. We'll get together for a welcome drink and enjoy dinner together this evening.
  • Day 2 Christmas Eve - Bellagio
  • ​On our first morning we'll hop on the ferry and cross sparkling Lake Como to explore the town of Bellagio. We'll wander the tiny lanes of Bellagio's Old Town, taking time to look in the shops at the local leather products and traditional foods. Admire the Romanesque Basilica of San Giacomo in the central Piazza della Chiesa and head down to the water's edge for a stroll. 

    We'll return to Tremezzo in time for a relaxing Christmas Eve dinner together.

  • Day 3 Christmas Day - Tremezzo
  • After breakfast you'll have a free morning to explore Tremezzo. If you wish, you could go for a leisurely stroll through the Old Town, taking in the views across the lake and admiring the grand 17th century villas that adorn its shores.
    Head back to the hotel and sit down to festive lunch complete with turkey, Christmas pudding and mince pies.In the afternoon, you might feel like taking a short stroll to the pretty Parco Civico Teresio Olivelli, where you can take in spectacular views of lake and mountains. This evening we'll enjoy a light dinner and drinks together.
  • Day 4 Boxing Day - Bernina Railway
  • You'll take in some of the spectacular scenery of Northern Italy if you join us on today's optional excursion. It begins with a journey by coach to Tirano. Here, we'll leave the coach behind and board a train for a thrilling ride on the famous Bernina Railway. The sights you'll see, from frozen lakes to snow-capped mountains, are sure to be truly breathtaking, so sit back and enjoy. Our two-hour journey will end in the elegant Swiss ski resort of St Moritz, where you can enjoy some free time in the company of your travelling companions.
    The mountain scenery here is so beautiful it's no wonder that the resort has lured everyone, from royals to movie stars, for more than a century.

     
  • Day 5 Lake Maggiore
  • ​Lake Maggiore is calling, and we'll be setting off bright and early today to explore this enchanting beauty spot. We'll visit the pretty little town of Stresa, where elegant Art Nouveau hotels line an attractive waterfront. During free time here, you could perhaps enjoy a cruise to the Borromean Islands of Bella, Madre and Isola dei Pescatori, or maybe take the cable car up Mount Mottarone for panoramic views across Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta.
    In the evening we'll get together to enjoy a hearty dinner.
  • Day 6 Milan
  • ​Today you can join an optional excursion to the ever-stylish city of Milan. Set off with an expert Local Guide to explore its architectural and artistic treasures. You'll visit the Duomo, Milan's grand Gothic cathedral, and see why it took over 600 years to build. Other highlights include the Grand Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the world's oldest shopping malls, and 15th century Sforzesco Castle with its ornate fountains.
    We'll return to the hotel in time for dinner together.
  • Day 7 Como
  • ​Feel the wind in your hair as you chug across Lake Como on a scenic ferry ride today, enjoying the very best views of the undulating countryside. Our destination is the charming little town of Como at the southern end of the lake, where you'll have free time to explore. Famed for its Gothic cathedral, the town also has a delightful waterfront promenade lined with palatial mansions and lakeside gardens, and a fascinating museum depicting the history of Como's silk industry. As the sun sets over the lake we'll head back for a delicious dinner.
  • Day 8 Bergamo
  • ​The medieval city of Bergamo is offered as an optional excursion today, so set off and get swept up in the Christmas atmosphere and bustling markets. You could choose to use your free time here to zip between the steep upper and lower sections of the city, separated by great Venetian walls, on the funicular as you drink in the historic architecture and delightful piazzas. The central Piazza Vecchia, with its fountains and quaint cafés, is the perfect starting point.
    After a day packed with exploration we'll meet up for dinner at the hotel.
  • Day 9 New Year's Eve - Lugano
  • ​You'll start the day enjoying some free time in the picturesque Swiss town of Lugano, which stands on the northern shore of glacial Lake Lugano, surrounded by alpine mountains. Begin in the main square, Piazza della Riforma, which is flanked by pastel-coloured, neoclassical palazzi.
    Back at the hotel, we'll gather together to enjoy a fun-filled Italian New Year celebration. The gala dinner will end with lentils and cotechino – an Italian sausage – good omens for money in the year to come. Dance the night away to live music as you see in the nuovo anno.
  • Day 10 New Year's Day - Tremezzo
  • ​Today we'll return to the charming lakeside town of Tremezzo, where admiring the far-reaching views across the pond-calm waters is top of the agenda. You'll have a free day to explore at your leisure. Maybe take a ferry ride to explore more of Lake Como and its surrounds.
    We'll come together in the evening to enjoy our last dinner as a group and reflect on a wonderful trip.


     

  • Day 11 Milan to UK
  • After breakfast, we will transfer to the airport for our flight home.
