Description

Take a nostalgic journey into yesteryear as we blend the charms of the Victorian seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare with the heritage of the West Somerset Railway, travelling through the beautiful Somerset countryside. We also explore historic towns and cities and the natural wonder of the awe-inspiring Cheddar Gorge.

Coach Itinerary

Glastonbury, Wells & Cheddar Gorge (full day)
We travel first to the ancient market town of Glastonbury. The town has a wealth of beautiful, historic buildings including the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey set in 36 acres of parkland (admission not included). It is also known for its bohemian culture, quirky shops and cafés.

We continue on to Wells, located at the foot of the Mendip Hills. England’s smallest city boasts a Also of interest are Vicars' Close, claimed to be the oldest complete medieval street in Europemagnificent cathedral and unique moated Bishop’s Palace while the eclectic mix of buildings and narrow streets adds to the atmosphere here.

Finally, we visit the magnificent limestone Cheddar Gorge. Classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Britain's largest gorge has dramatic cliffs rising up 450ft and stunning stalactite caverns.

West Somerset Railway & Minehead
(full day)
We board the West Somerset Railway for a nostalgic journey stretching 20 miles from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead. Travelling through the gently rolling Quantock Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, we pass unspoilt villages and farms nestling in leafy lanes before following the cliffs and coast between Exmoor and the Bristol Channel with distant views of South Wales.


We disembark in the traditional resort of Minehead with its promenade, long sandy beach and harbour, where we have some time to explore at leisure. traditional seaside fun, with its promenade and long, sandy beach, and pebble beach near the harbour.

Optional Excursion
Bath - £10pp (full day)

Join us on an optional excursion to Bath. The city has remained faithful to its Regency roots, with an abundance of elegant terraces, circuses and squares in a picturesque valley setting. The magnificent Royal Crescent is a must-see and the central square is home not only to Bath Abbey, but also the ancient Roman Baths. The city has an excellent selection of shops; especially along the Pulteney Bridge, one of only four bridges in the world to feature shops across its full span on both sides.
