The Tall Ships Races 2023 will see sailors explore the North Sea, voyaging from Den Helder in the Netherlands to Hartlepool in the North East, then back across to Norwegian Fredrikstad. Come and experience this famous event and watch in awe as these impressive ships descend on Hartlepool marina for the first time since 2010! This is the perfect chance to witness the world’s largest sailing ship competition, look out for iconic vessels and enjoy the bucketload of fun-filled entertainment on offer. We round off our break with a visit to the historic city of York, where spectacular sights and cosy tea rooms line the cobbled streets. 

Coach Itinerary

Saturday: From a morning pickup in your local area we travel by coach to our hotel, arriving in time for dinner.

Sunday: The highlight of our break awaits today as we head to Hartlepool to enjoy the Tall Ships Race and the impressive Parade of Sail. Look out for iconic ships at this world-famous event, including Alexander Von Humboldt II, Dar Młodzieży and Statsraad Lehmkuhl, Norway’s biggest ship which was built in 1914, captured during the Second World War and now serves as a school ship for the Royal Norwegian Navy.Later we return to our hotel for our second night’s stay. 

Monday: After breakfast we check out of the hotel and head to the lovely city of York. Make time for the glorious York Minster, the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe with renowned stained-glass windows. Other highlights include the narrow, cobbled streets of the ‘Shambles’ where the buildings date back to medieval times, the Jorvik Centre which tells the story of York’s Viking heritage, and the ancient walls surrounding the city. The famous Betty’s tea rooms are also worth a visit after all that exploring! We rejoin the coach in the mid afternoon for the journey home.
