We make our way to the picturesque market town of Stamford, widely regarded as one of the finest stone towns in England, with a variety of 17^th and 18^th-century stone buildings, secret alleyways peppered with alehouses and no fewer than five medieval parish churches. It’s no wonder that Stamford has formed the backdrop for TV costume drama Middlemarch and the 2005 film adaptation of Pride & Prejudice! The Town Trail is a wonderful way to soak up the atmospheric streets and market squares before enjoying a well-earned treat in one of the cosy cafés.

Market Bosworth & Stratford-upon-Avon

Following breakfast at the hotel, we check out and spend some time in the pretty market town of Market Bosworth, close to Bosworth Field where the famous battle between Henry Tudor and Richard III took place. The the White Boar Inn is worth a visit, where Richard III spent the night before the Battle of Bosworth, or enjoy the quaint shops and cafés before we depart for home.
