Itinerary

Description

The largest - and certainly one of the most breathtaking - of all the lakes in Italy, Lake Garda is a stunning sight that has entranced visitors for centuries. With its deep azure waters fringed by pastel-coloured villas and olive and lemon groves stretching out towards the foothills of snow-capped mountains, Lake Garda is the perfect place to unwind as we visit the lakeside resorts and historic towns of this wonderful region.

Coach Itinerary

Days 1 & 2 Journey to Italy
We travel to Dover to catch the evening ferry to Calais. From here, we continue our journey through the night, arriving at our hotel in the Lake Garda area on the afternoon of day two.

Day 3 Riva del Garda & Malcesine
We enjoy a scenic tour of Lake Garda, stopping en-route in two of the beautiful towns along its shores. Riva del Garda is located at the more dramatic northern end of the lake with mountains on either side and boasts winding streets and waterfront squares. Malcesine is an attractive town with a harbour and castle on the eastern shore. Picturesque medieval lanes wind up the slope from the lake while pretty squares are lined with shops, cafés and restaurants.

Day 4 Optional excursion to Venice (£39pp)
Join us for an optional excursion to explore the unique city of Venice, famed for its network of canals. Just some of the wonderful attractions here include St Mark’s Square, the Bridge of Sighs and of course the gondolas that ply their trade up and down the waterways.

Day 5 Optional excursion to Sirmione (£9pp)
Our optional half day excursion takes us to Sirmione. Set on a picturesque peninsula on the southern shore of Lake Garda, Sirmione is a beautifully-preserved town with a turreted 13th-century castle and maze of narrow, cobbled streets full of shops and cafés.

Day 6 Soave & Verona
We head first to Soave, a small town famous for the wines that come from the surrounding vineyards. The town is enclosed by its medieval walls and dominated by its castle. Next is Verona, one of Italy’s oldest cities. Forever associated with Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, Verona has much more to offer than the legendary balcony that lovers flock to from all over the world; the majestic Piazza Brà is just one of the many other must-see sights here.

Days 7 & 8 Journey home
We leave our hotel in the afternoon, travelling overnight towards Calais. The following morning, we catch the return ferry home.
