Description

Let your troubles melt away in the relaxing Italian heat on our getaway to the stunning Lake Garda. Soak up the charms of the picturesque peninsula of Sirmione, with its unique cobbled streets and medieval village, and wander the labyrinthine lanes and iconic bridges in Venice. With pretty harbour towns awash with cascading Mediterranean flowers and those blue, blue waters, it’s time to put your feet up and enjoy the timeless scenery of this beautiful region.

Itinerary

Day 1

Ferry to Calais and overnight stay in France on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2

Continue to our hotel in the Lake Garda area, where we stay for the next six nights.

Day 3 – Sirmione

We enjoy time in one of the most postcard-perfect towns in the area. Set on a picturesque peninsula on the southern shore of Lake Garda, Sirmione is a beautifully-preserved town with a turreted 13^th-century castle and maze of narrow, cobbled streets full of lovely shops and cafés. 

Day 4 – Venice

Today we explore the unique city of Venice. Lining the canals are grand palazzos, many of them dating back to the 14^th century, while other attractions include St Mark’s Square, the Bridge of Sighs and of course the gondolas that ply their trade up and down the waterways. 

Day 5 – Day at leisure

Day 6 – Optional Excursion to Verona (£19pp)

We head to Verona, one of Italy’s oldest cities. Forever associated with Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, Verona has much more to offer than the legendary balcony that lovers flock to from all over the world; the ancient Roman amphitheatre and majestic Piazza Brà are just some of the many must-see sights here.

Day 7 – Scenic Lake Garda

We enjoy a scenic coach tour of Lake Garda, with its shores fringed by elegant period villas, lakeside resorts and historic towns plus olive and lemon groves stretching out towards the foothills of snow-capped mountains.

Day 8

Travel to our overnight hotel in France, with a light evening meal included. 

Day 9

Continue to Calais for our return ferry home.
