Description

Travel in deluxe style on this holiday aboard a JG Explorer coach!  

With its deep azure waters fringed by pastel-coloured villas and olive and lemon groves stretching out towards the foothills of snow-capped mountains, Lake Garda is the perfect place to unwind as we visit the lakeside resorts and historic towns of this lush and rugged region. As well as plenty of time discovering one of the most breathtaking lakes in Italy, we also take in the spectacular scenery of the Dolomites on this Italian getaway – bellissima!

Coach Itinerary

Day 1

Ferry to Calais and overnight stay in France on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2

Continue to our hotel in the town of Toscolano Maderno, located on the Western shores of Lake Garda.

Day 3 – Cruising Lake Garda & Sirmione

This morning we board our boat for a scenic round-trip cruise on Lake Garda and enjoy time in one of the most postcard-perfect towns in the area. Set on a picturesque peninsula on the southern shore of Lake Garda, Sirmione is a beautifully-preserved town with a turreted 13^th-century castle and maze of narrow, cobbled streets full of shops and cafés. 

Day 4 – Optional excursion to Venice (£49pp)

Join us for an optional excursion to explore the unique city of Venice. Lining the canals are grand palazzos, many of them dating back to the 14^th century, while other attractions include St Mark’s Square, the Bridge of Sighs and of course the gondolas that ply their trade up and down the waterways. 

Day 5 – Day at leisure

Day 6 – Scenic Dolomites (Molveno & Trento)

After an early breakfast we head out on a scenic drive through the Dolomites, a striking mountain range with UNESCO World Heritage status; think sheer cliffs and impressive peaks combined with luscious valleys and tranquil lakes. Along the way we stop in Molveno, where the crystal-clear waters of Lake Molveno reflect the peaks of the surrounding mountains, as well as the atmospheric city of Trento. Don’t miss Buonconsiglio Castle, famous for its ancient frescoes and beautiful views, or why not find a pretty piazza and enjoy some TrentoDoc, one of Italy’s most popular sparkling wines?

Day 7 – Scenic Lake Garda

We enjoy a scenic coach tour of Lake Garda, stopping en-route in Garda towards the southern end of the lake. The old town centre still resembles a medieval village, with its colourful houses along the antique alleys. There’s also a small harbour and lakeside promenade, the perfect place for a stroll, before we continue to Peschiera del Garda. From the spectacular fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to the pretty lakefront and pastel-painted shops, it’s a lovely place to spend some time.  

Day 8

Travel to our overnight hotel in France, with a light evening meal included. 

Day 9
Continue to Calais for our return ferry home.

Simply bring along your smartphone or iPad and enjoy this entertainment interruption-free, with the use of our extra reliable Wi-Fi, free to all passengers and a handy USB port at each seat.

The layout of the JG Explorer includes a floor-level, rear-mounted kitchen with a sink, an espresso machine to purchase delicious Nespresso coffee, dispensed by your driver during comfort breaks, and a fridge stocked with cold drinks and milk. Customers are welcome to help themselves to complimentary JG bottles, that can be used for refill at the built-in cold-water filter, cutting down on the need for disposable plastic bottles and doing our part for the environment.

Hotel (JG3 rating)

The family-run Garda Sol Spa Hotel (JG3 rating) is located in the heart of Toscolano Maderno on the western shores of Lake Garda. The comfortable en-suite bedrooms feature a flat-screen TV and free toiletries while other hotel facilities include a restaurant, outdoor pool, sun terrace and spa with a Turkish bath and sauna (treatments are available at an extra cost).
