Itinerary

Description

If you’re looking for a scenic and relaxing getaway, this is one for you! On this break, we journey to two of Europe’s most picturesque regions, including one of Italy’s most spectacular lakes – Lake Garda. Known for its breeze-rippled azure waters and pretty lakeside resorts, it’s a wonderful place to unwind. This is combined with time exploring Austria – from snow-dusted peaks to beautiful cities such asSalzburg and Innsbruck, there is plenty to discover. We also have the option to visit the stunning city of Venice.

Coach Itinerary

Picturesque Break at Lake Garda & Austrian Tyrol

Day 1
Ferry to Calais and overnight stay in France on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2
Continue to our hotel in the Lake Garda area, where we stay for the next four nights.

Day 3 –Scenic Lake Garda
We enjoy a scenic coach tour of Lake Garda, with its shores fringed by elegant period villas, lakeside resorts and historic towns plus olive and lemon groves stretching out towards the foothills of snow-capped mountains.

Day 4 – Optional excursion to Venice (£45pp)
Join us for an optional excursion to explore the unique city of Venice. Lining the canals are grand palazzos, many of them dating back to the 14th century, while other attractions include St Mark’s Square, the Bridge of Sighs and of course the gondolas that ply their trade up and down the waterways.

Day 5 – Day at leisure in Garda

Day 6 – Innsbruck
We leave Garda and head over the Austrian border to the beautiful city of Innsbruck with its magnificent backdrop of snow-capped peaks. There is plenty to see around the city, including the Old Town and the Golden Roof, built for Emperor Maximilian I as a royal box from which to view tournaments in the square below. We continue on to our hotel in the Austrian Tyrol, our base for the next three nights.

Day 7 – Salzburg
A day in the city of Salzburg is next, lying at the northern boundary of the Alps. The beautifully-preserved Old Town is overlooked by the Hohensalzburg Castle offering panoramic views over Salzburg. The city is also the birthplace of Mozart and was the setting for parts of the film The Sound of Music.

Day 8 – Scenic Tyrol
Today we discover the natural beauty of the Austrian Tyrol on a coach tour of some of the most picturesque parts of the region.

Day 9
Travel to our overnight hotel in France, with a light evening meal included.

Day 10
Continue to Calais for our return ferry home.
