Our fabulous Island Highlights tour takes us to many of the island’s famous sights. We also visit the historic port town of Yarmouth, which contains some of the island's oldest architecture, including a 16th-century castle. We continue to Newport, regarded as the capital of the Isle of Wight, with a historic quayside and a selection of independent shops.
Day 3 - Optional Excursion to Sandown, Ryde & Cowes (£14pp)
We begin our three-town tour, heading to Sandown first, the popular beach resort located on the southeast coast. Sandown is famous for its golden sandy beaches and vibrant pier. The perfect place to unwind. Next is Ryde, the largest town on the island, often referred to as ‘the town on the beach.’ There’s plenty to see along the seafront, including the oldest pier in the UK and a wide range of shops. And last but not least we make our way to Cowes, home to the world-famous regatta. Many of the town’s ornate buildings date from Queen Victoria’s time, in the style popularised by her consort Prince Albert.
