Join us on this lovely short break to beautiful Yorkshire, where we combine the rolling hills, panoramic landscapes and charming towns of the Yorkshire Dales with the historic city of York. There’s also the opportunity to visit the spa towns of Knaresborough and Harrogate to complete our delightfully scenic getaway.

York

We travel to the scenic city of York. Make time for York Minster, wander through the ‘Shambles’, a warren of narrow streets and overhanging buildings dating back to medieval times, or take a stroll around the ancient walls which surround the city. No trip to York is complete without a visit to the famous Betty’s tea rooms, where you can indulge in their legendary afternoon tea.

Skipton Market & Grassington

We tour the stunning Yorkshire Dales, calling first at the market town of Skipton, known as the Gateway to the Dales, with a grand medieval castle as its centrepiece. We have time to browse the award-winning market, which still operates under a charter granted by King John over 800 years ago. We then continue to the charming village of Grassington, with its striking surroundings, bustling square, traditional old stone buildings and quirky shops.

Optional Excursion

Knaresborough & Harrogate - £13pp

For our optional excursion, we head to the picturesque market town of Knaresborough, built in the gorge of the River Nidd, with its cobbled streets, iconic viaduct and the castle ruins that tower above the town. We travel on to the elegant spa town of Harrogate, where notable sights include the Royal Pump Room and the attractive Montpellier Quarter with its pedestrianised streets lined with 19^th-century buildings that are now home to galleries, boutiques and cafés.

Hotels with a JG2 rating are a mixture of larger hotels and privately owned properties. Décor and furnishings may be simple but are well maintained. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities, TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Food may be buffet style in some of the larger hotels. Services may be limited but efficient.

Selected Hotel

We’ll stay at a well-appointed hotel in the Leeds area. The comfortable rooms are en suite and other facilities include a bar and restaurant. All meals are buffet style.
