Day 1

Ferry to Calais and overnight stay in Germany on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2

We make our way to our hotel in the Nuremberg area for our overnight stay, with an en-route stop in the picturesque town of Rüdesheim am Rhein. Wander the charming streets and enjoy some lunch at your leisure before travelling down the Rhine Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site of beautiful landscapes, vineyards and breathtaking views of the river winding through the hills.

Day 3

We stop en route in Plzeň, the birthplace of Pilsner beer. Explore the Old Town of pastel-coloured townhouses and grand squares, and visit St. Bartholomew’s Gothic Cathedral. There's time to stop for lunch at your leisure before continuing with our journey.

Day 4

We venture to Kutná Hora, a city east of Prague, well known for the Gothic St Barbara’s Church. Kutná Hora is also famous for the Sedlec Ossuary, a small chapel decorated with human bones, which attracts visitors from around the world. The city's rich history as a former silver mining centre is evident in its well-preserved medieval architecture and charming streets.

Nelahozeves Castle is a magnificent Renaissance fortress located in the picturesque village of Nelahozeves. The castle is closely associated with the famous Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, who was born in the village in 1841, and the Dvořák Museum within the castle showcases his life and work. We explore well-preserved rooms, art collections and the beautiful gardens here.

Day 7

This morning we visit Vyšehrad, a historic fortress in the heart of Prague which dates back to the 10th century and once served as a seat of power for Czech rulers. With its scenic parks, lovely skyline views and labyrinth of narrow streets, the complex is perfect for a leisurely stroll. We take in the beautiful Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul, the tranquil gardens and the Vyšehrad Cemetery, where many famous Czech figures are buried.

Next, we take to the water and meander down the Vltava River on a relaxing buffet lunch cruise, admiring Prague and its famous monuments from a different perspective.

After an exciting day, we enjoy a farewell dinner together at the hotel this evening.

Day 8

We check out of our hotel in Prague and make our way to Dresden, where we stay overnight. During our guided panoramic coach tour, we explore the architectural beauty of the capital of Saxony and learn more about its history. The tour takes us through the city's streets, allowing us to admire the stunning Baroque and Renaissance buildings. Key highlights include the iconic Frauenkirche, the Semper Opera House and the Zwinger Palace.

Day 9

We stop en route in Hanover and explore the city. Hanover is known for its pretty gardens and historic landmarks, such as the Herrenhausen Gardens, with its baroque style and impressive fountains.

Day 10

Continue to Calais for our return ferry home.

We stay in selected hotels in Cologne, Nuremberg, Dresden and Dortmund. All hotel bedrooms are en suite and other facilities include a bar and restaurant.

Your hotel will be confirmed approximately 3 weeks before departure, therefore we cannot guarantee that the hotel will have a lift and/or ground floor rooms and may be unsuitable for those with limited mobility.

Hotels with a JG3 rating tend to be a more formal style of hotel, often part of a hotel chain, or are very-welcoming family-owned properties. Generally, they offer a greater range of facilities and services, and bedrooms tend to be a little more spacious with additional features. Public areas are larger and include lounge seating, bar and restaurant with good quality food served either buffet style or waiter service.
