Itinerary

Description

Recently awarded UNESCO World Heritage status, the Lake District boasts some of England’s finest scenery. We’ll find an abundance of natural beauty here, from navy blue lakes and jagged fells to the lush valleys they loom over. A collection of idyllic towns and villages plus a nostalgic heritage railway completes the timeless appeal of this beautiful region.

Coach Itinerary

Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway, Lake Windermere Cruise, Bowness-on-Windermere & the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction (full day)
We head to Haverthwaite where we take a step back in time as we climb aboard our heritage train on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway for a nostalgic journey through the picturesque Leven Valley to Lakeside at the southern tip of Lake Windermere.

From here we explore the beauty of Lake Windermere on a scenic cruise. We enjoy magnificent views of mountain scenery, secluded bays and many wooded islands as we cruise England’s largest lake.

We disembark in Bowness-on-Windermere, a charming enclave on the eastern shores of the lake, where we enjoy free time in this bustling town with its craft and gift shops, lakeside cafés and tea rooms. We also enjoy free entry to the fascinating World of Beatrix Potter Attraction where a short film presentation, exhibition and garden bring Beatrix Potter’s celebrated characters to life.

Grasmere, Ambleside & the Kirkstone Pass (full day)
We head first to Grasmere, the picturesque village associated with the poet Wordsworth, before continuing on to Ambleside, a pretty town known for its cosy pubs situated at the head of Lake Windermere. We return to the hotel via the Kirkstone Pass. As the highest mountain road open to traffic, the views are unsurprisingly spectacular.

Optional Excursion
Keswick - £8pp (half day)
Join our optional half day excursion to Keswick, a handsome market town that enjoys a lovely location sandwiched between peaceful Derwentwater and the looming bulk of Skiddaw, England’s fourth highest mountain.
