Itinerary

Day 1 – Home pickup, flight to Munich & embarkation in Regensburg, Germany
A uniformed chauffeur will collect you from home for your comfortable journey to the airport in a top specification car so you can begin your holiday in style. We fly to Munich and transfer to Regensburg Cruise Port Terminal, where we board the Brabant, taking time to relax in our cabins or on deck and enjoying the use of the ship’s range of leisure facilities.

Nicknamed ‘Germany’s medieval miracle’, Regensburg is considered one of the finest medieval cities in Europe, originally settled by the Romans in 179AD and the first capital of Bavaria. Incredibly well-preserved, this stunning city is situated at the confluence of the Danube, Naab and Regen and is a maze of historic streets, squares and landmarks. There are plenty of historic buildings to see in the UNESCO-listed Stadtamhof Old Town, as well as the 12th-century Stone Bridge and striking German-gothic cathedral. Lovers of locally-crafted beer and wine will delight in the knowledge that Regensburg boasts the largest number of pubs and bars than any other German city too.

Days 2 & 3 – Regensburg & Passau, Germany
After enjoying more time in Regensburg, we depart for the charming Bavarian city of Passau. Nicknamed the ‘City of Three Rivers’ due to its location on the German-Austrian border at the confluence of the Danube, Inn and Ilz, its waterways were once vital trading routes. Passau is also renowned for its colourful architecture and typical Bavarian charm. There is an abundance of sights to discover, from the Altstadt old town district with its soaring towers, stunning palaces and iconic St Stephen’s Cathedral to The Vesta Oberhaus, an impressive fortress on the northern bank of the Danube which houses a fascinating museum and gallery showcasing the city’s history.

Day 4 – Emmersdorf, Melk & Wachau Valley, Austria
Today we cruise along the UNESCO-listed Wachau Valley, a spectacular 33 kilometre-long section of the Danube River. The beautiful scenery consists of enchanting medieval towns, world-renowned vineyards and gently rolling hills, combining to create one of the most unforgettable areas of the Danube.

At the south-western entrance to the Wachau Valley lies the charming town of Emmersdorf and the historic city of Melk, two of Lower Austria’s prettiest and most popular destinations situated on opposite sides of the River Danube. Beyond Emmersdorf’s colourful waterfront buildings lies the late-gothic parish church of St Nikolaus and a collection of 16th-century wine houses. A short hop across the Danube Bridge brings you to Melk, home to the iconic Benedictine Abbey, one of the most elaborate and important monasteries in Austria. Its hill-top position provides spectacular views of Melk, the Danube and the surrounding countryside. Later we moor up in Nussdorf, a nearby suburb of Vienna.

Day 5 – Nussdorf (for Vienna), Austria
Today we have the chance to visit Vienna. Austria’s beautiful and captivating capital is renowned for its musical heritage and its diverse architecture. Spread out along both banks of the River Danube, there is a wealth of attractions to explore. The UNESCO-listed historic centre is bursting with highlights from Baroque castles and imperial palaces to impressive landmarks and monuments. The stunning Schönbrunn Palace and the striking gothic-style Stephansdom Cathedral are also not to be missed, as well as the abundance of fantastic galleries and museums.

Day 6 – Bratislava, Slovakia
Leaving Nussdorf, we cruise to Slovakia’s beautiful capital of Bratislava. One of the most intriguing and diverse cities in Europe, it combines contemporary delights and an abundance of historic highlights with the scenic beauty of the picturesque Danube River. The well-preserved heart of the city contains structures and monuments from the Renaissance era. The most eye-catching of them is the imposing white-walled castle, which has overlooked the city since the 9th century, while the collection of churches, palaces and ancient gates are worth discovering. There are plenty of museums and galleries too, including the National Museum, the Slovak National Gallery and the Bratislava City Gallery.

Day 7 – Budapest, Hungary
Hungary’s historic capital is split into two distinct districts: Buda, with its steep hills, streets and alleys; and low-lying Pest, where architectural and cultural treasures are in abundance. The highlights of the Buda side include the Ottoman-era thermal baths and Matthias Church with its soaring rococo spire. The awe-inspiring Parliament building, perched on the Danube’s banks, beckons you to explore the Pest side of the river. Here you can also uncover the charms of the pretty Jewish Quarter, which is home to the incredible Great Synagogue, and visit a number of fantastic galleries and museums.

Day 8 – Disembarkation in Budapest & flight home
We disembark our ship and transfer to Budapest airport for our return flight. On arrival in the UK, we are met by our chauffeur for the journey home – a luxurious and stress-free way to end the holiday.
